1959 braking

Post by 1959Tndrbrd »

When I step on the brake in my 1959 tbird, IT pulls a bit to the right. Why? What is the problem and how can I fix it?

It could be many things. If it pulls to the right then he left front brake may not be working, or may just need adjusted so that it engages at the same time as the right side does. It could be a bad rubber brake line as those tend to break down internally and swell which doesn't allow the fluid to go into or out of the brake piston at the same rate as the other lines. The brake shoes could be installed wrong with the incorrect length shoe in the wrong position.

If you are not very familiar with brakes, it may be best to take it to someone who is. It's no fun when you have to stomp the brake for an emergency and it pulls the wheel out of your hand and your car off the road or into the next lane. Better safe than sorry.
