New owner. Where do we start?

Post by RLCassetta »

My mother-in-law has inherited her father's 1960 Tudor Hardtop. Unfortunately, that's about all we know. She wants to get it drivable. Right now, it sputters and chugs, as it goes down the road. We are located in Louisville, Ky. Are there any recommendations or suggestions for support and maintenance. In advance, thanks for your help and guidance. We can't wait to cruise in this beauty.

Could be carb, could be bad fuel, could be a clogged fuel filter.... Could just need a tune up.... Lots of things that it COULD be.

Any suggestions or recommendations on finding a mechanic and/or a body shop. Over spray is obvious and some minor rust in corner of a door. There is a "classic car" group called 502 auto that is local. Have any members heard of them or could offer another shop?

Start by looking at the site squarebirds.org I think there are local folks that can point you in the right direction. Also, research a local old car or classic car club. Go to any of their events and ask around for refererals to an "old school" mechanic.
