INTERNATIONALS

Post by RAVEN » Sun May 11, 2014 4:10 pm

OK Boys and Girls; I know the International is in New Orleans, this year in about 3 weeks; but where is it in the years to come? DO we know, does the Board know? Inquiring minds want to know! I have watched as posts come in on getting ready for the Nationals, and how some are worried on getting it right. BUT where will they go next year. I being an old time guy but getting back in the stream of things I would like to plan ahead. I am moving into retirement and the money I am spending on educating my grandkids is winding down. (Dentistry,Engineering plus others). The last item on my bucket list is getting my car to senior status but I aint driving 2000 miles to get it. Any info and plans would be appreciated, for me and probly others. THANKS for any info. BTW up to now its been great watching from the side lines, just want to get into the main stream.

International Conventions for 2015-2016 will be as follows:

2015 - Okanagon, BC has been proposed: I don't know timeframe, will be discussed at Board meeting in New Orleans end of this month;

2016 - Kansas City area, to be hosted by Vintage Thunderbirds of Kansas City, dates TBD but am assuming some time in summer as several members are teachers and have been wanting dates when they can participate.

2017 and forward - I'm not privy to discussions at present but know that the rotation schedule among the 6 domestic regions is out of sequence.

Keep monitoring the Events section of the website and notices in Thunderbird Scoop magazine.

It would be great if the Okanagan '15 convention came to pass. Having met some of their members at the NW regional in Edmonton I know they would do a fantastic job of hosting the event.

Would this mark the first time an International has been held in Canada?

A International was held in the Toronto area hosted by the Southern Ontario Club in 1988.

88 VTCA Convention

Post by RAVEN » Tue May 13, 2014 11:15 pm

At the 88 Nationals the Convention was changed to the "FIRST" Internationals. This was to show that the VTCA was NOW VTCI. Just a little history for our readers. The event was held at the Prince Hotel in the metro area of Toronto, with a Lake Ontario cruise/dinner, a CN Tower breakfast, a keep sake private label bottle of wine, plus other memorable take homes. One note is that it was helped in organization by the host of the 2015 Internationals K and M Carr, so I know that it will be a great event to attend in the future. Just hope Ken can talk to his friends in the vinyards and get us some deals in home grown wines.

Toronto '88 was a very well-attended convention with around 120 or so cars on the show field. I don't recall special-labeled bottles of wine, though I do remember enjoying a lot of Molson beer (someone lined up a really good sponsor) after having just come back from a 3-month study tour of Europe.

Well we did our online check-in this morning. Should be having lunch in the French Quarter by noon on Tuesday, and get together with Mills' in the evening. Of course checking out all the beautiful cars is high on the list, hanging around with the friends we've made is the best. The Acadian Thunderbird Club will put on a great event I'm sure, and the location is cool. Not having to wash the bottom of my car after driving in will be nice, but I'll be doing that next month in Minneapolis :lol: I'll try to get a group picture, but tbird is a little camera shy :cool:
It's gonna be cool when it's done
