How to insert items

Post by tbird »

Is there some way to cut and paste or copy from emails or other source to this forum?

I know this is late in coming but for those that have the same question, Yes, you can!

1. Highlight whatever text you want to use in your post. You can do this by placing your cursor at the beginning or the end of the text you want to use and holding down the left click button, drag the cursor across over to the other end of the text that you want to copy. All that you want to transfer over should be highlighted. Sometimes if you just double left click at the front or back of the text that you want to highlight the computer will try and decide what it is you're trying to highlight and do it itself. Try it. Takes a little practice but you should be able to pick up how to highlight pretty quickly.

2. Now that you have told the computer what you want to transfer, to copy the text hold down the "CTRL" button and hit the letter "C" button. You have now copied the text you want to transfer. The text will still be there and highlighted but rest assured if you did it right it copied. You can also "cut out" text you've highlighted if, say for instance, you are rearranging a post or, for that matter, a letter in Microsoft Word, by holding down the "CTRL" button and hitting the letter "X". Whatever you highlighted will disappear and be copied at the same time.

3. To paste the text that you've copied or cut out place the cursor where you want the text to appear and hold down the "CTRL" button and hit the letter "V". The text you copied or cut out should now appear where you placed your cursor. This should work in any program that deals with text.

Hope this helps!

John
