Upon reading the 1956 Trim and sealer manual, I see that a panel(s) were applied inside the door panels, Front and rear Quarter panels to deaden the vibration of sounds of the car. Has any one find these in their car ?
Here's a few of the illustrations from the Manual.

It's not a panel, it's a sprayed on material similar to or the same as undercoating. I believe it was tar based. It looks rough, like how undercoating looks and yes, it is in my '55 in all the places the book shows.
There are modern versions of it available thru Eastwood, Ebay, Amazon, etc. The newer versions are typically rubberized.

Thanks for your response Chris, I might Spray on the area's shown on the manual... I do have Rust-oLeum spray undercoating/ deadens sound rubberized . or I might buy these from amazon....

At least these panels can be cut to fit size that is measured in the manual, I'am still on the fence.

Unlike modern spray undercoating this stuff dries rock hard and was used throughout the car for sound deadening and to help protect the fenders from rock dings off the tires. The over the counter spray undercoating will not look like the original nor will it perform the same function. Functionally spray bed liner would be closer but it doesn't have the original look.

The factory undercoating was painted body color. Keep this in mind when purchasing your material.
