Cool...I've never seen the factory belt setup. I've always seen the aftermarket ones where you use bolts and big washers through the floor pan.

Yep, they are for seat belts. My 57 has them too, along with the seat belts.

I ordered seat belts and installed them in the 57. The ends "clamp" around the brackets (eye bolt in mine) and use a cotter pin to lock them in place. It probably isn't as secure as the belt mounts in today's cars, but I hope I never have to find out.

Hi,
I want to fit after market seat belts to my 56 and found these already in the car. The look different from Dutchbird's.
There are only 2 , so nothing behind the seat by the doors. (tired to show this on the second photo.)

So a couple of questions please.

1. Are these for seat belts?
2. Assuming they are, where should I mount the other brackets

Many thanks as ever....

Thanks for the reply

I'm a bit confused, are you saying the hood cover has tabs which go into the tabs in my photo? I don't have them on my hood cover

The color curtain covers the convertible top that is folded behind the bench seat. That's all it does. The studs that you show I have the same studs, is for the snap housing that is part of the curtain to hold in place.

There are 2 slotted anchors painted red
These anchors or brackets were commonly used in aftermarket seat belt kits. The original stock mounts are the U shaped ones in the very top picture.
PLEASE invest a few bucks and buy all the shop manuals for your car. Definitely will save you much time and be an education.
