Mufflers

Post by Florida_Phil »

I am replacing the old rusty exhaust system in my 55 TBird. My car has a manual transmission with O/D, bigger heads, 57 intake and a Holley carb. I'm installing an Isky cam while I have the engine out. I don't want to wake up the neighborhood when I'm driving around, but I do want a better sounding car. What mufflers are you guys using?

Forget the neighbors, if you mostly drive with no top, I wouldn’t recommend glasspacks. After they burn out, you are left essentially, with straight pipes. Can get very annoying to the driver over time. Sounds great though with the softtop up, or hardtop with windows open. I am often tempted then to shove it into 2nd and back of the throttle when entering a wooded cove (sweet music).

I installed the complete exhaust system from MPD and the mufflers sound good and not to loud. They have a really nice rumble, even with the top down they arent annoying.
