Early 1955

Post by jatkinson »

My father bought one of his T Birds out of Florida about 40 years ago. Was told at the time it was an early one, which at that time didn't really mean anything. I've been doing some looking and it has a C on the Trim code which I believe is an early code. The end of the vin is 100976. Just wondering how many early cars are still around? Thanks

The C on the trim code designated s turquoise and white interior so the car was most likely Thunderbird blue on the exterior. The VIN of 100976 would make it an early production as it was one of the first 1000 Thunderbirds produced.

Greg gave you the correct answer on the "C" code for turquoise and white interior and the VIN of 100976 would make it an early production as it was one of the first 1000 Thunderbirds produced.

The single letter for the exterior and interior was used until approximately July 8, 1955. Thunderbirds built after that date were coded with two letters for the interior such as "XC", XB, etc.
I keep a registry of 55-57 Thunderbirds and have 6,570 of the 1955 models registered. I have 517 in the registry prior to 100976. Most of these are still in existence in some form and approximately 80% have been updated in the last five years.

Hope this helps

Yes that is what I was looking for. And the car is turquoise and white interior. Thanks again for your help
