timing--new distributor

Post by emo666 »

Went to a freind of freinds place who is a race car mechanic. He is of the opinion that my problems lie in the distributor and coil and some timing. so we found on Ebay a HEI distributor that is made for the Fe engine. He unplugged the vacuum advance and it seemed to run and idle much better after some adjusting. So I ordered that HEI distrubtor and a high voltage coil but won't be here till april 11th . Has anyone ran one of these and how did you like it ????

Not sure which t bird you have. But regardless, electronic ignition is a big improvement over stock ignition. Your car should start better, run smoother and have better throttle response. Recommend you also get MSD spark plug wires or equivalent to get the full benefit of the higher energy ignition.
