1964 Wheel Fitment (my car)

Post by Z28Fred »

Hey guys. New here. Just picked up this 64 a few weeks ago.I searched a bunch of sights(this one mostly) for info on wheel fitment. Here are the specs of what I did last night.
Rear wheels. American Racing 17x9.5 with 6.375 backspacing
Rear tires. 285/40/17 Nitto 555
Front wheels. 17x8 with 4.0 backspacing.
Front tires. 255/45/17.

I removed the bump stops on the rear. I could have easily gone 10" wide wheel with a 315 tire. I'm pretty sure my skirts will still fit with the 285. My measurements indicated that I could push 7" of backspacing but it would be close.
The front wheels could have been wider as well. Overall I am still very happy. No rubbing anywhere. I may lower the front a little.
sorry for the grainy pics.

Fred
