also here are some rear vents that are factory in this car.
they are run on vacuum and open when you want to get rid of smoke etc from the inside.
as ive said i want to run no/ as little vacuum as possible so i got rid of these and made up some nice panels to fill the whole of where they were.

some more body work over xmas

then i found more disaster that my "mate" did to stuff me over.
found almost 1inch of filler in the scoop part of my bonnet!

Image

Image

so we bare metaled the bonnet , cut the frame out, repaired it all and it came up very nice!

the whole bonnet copped alot of metal work. un picking the frame, tapping it up, and welding every hole i could find. it was ages ago but there was (i think) 66 holes!
Frame from bonnet:

almost ready for epoxy

all halve circles like this got welded:

finally in epoxy. was alot of work but worth it in the end i think:

also the bootlid copped similar treatment as the bonnet just not as full on.
mainly cutting out some rust. welded all but 2 holes so its pretty smooth too!

no pics in primer but its all done.

also ripped out the old wiring loom. i hate wiring and it seams like there is alot in a car that is 50 years old.

also fitted the big block in ages ago to check clearances ( or lack of):

then i tried a clevo:

the clevo gives me more room for headers etc and yeah i know its not sitting strait. thats because i still havnt worked out engine mounts.
its not like a xy or a stang where people have tried different things. nobody mods these things, so everything i do is trial and error.

still not decided on a motor yet. im leaning towards a 351 windsor. id love to **** people off and drop in a LS1. turbo it or something.but LS1's in cars is common as these days. still not sure....

ok so finally my right hand door made it here from the states! pretty bloody nice too. 1 small patch of filler and a small dent with some surface rust, an easy fix.
it got here on tuesday night and i fitted it up that same night. played with it some more tonight and it fits awesome, gaps up real nice and has given me some enthusiasm.
weighed the door tonight. it weighs between 55-60 kgs! :o

so i bought some stinger roadkill off a mate for the roof and floors ect.
bare metaled the inside of the roof skin and painted it in this awesome paint called POR 15 and its a rust preventative paint that dries rock solid

Image

Image

Image

also took some pics of a 65 at a local show just to show how bad the gaps are from factory and a goal to beat how mine lines up

Image

Image

Image

then made some color that i thought about painting the car, but at the end of the day its still blue and i dont really want to spend all this time and money for it to still look similar. any way the blue is brighter, cleaner and all round nicer. its not 100% ruled out yet:

some of the worst rust in the car, inside the boot on the boot floors. wasnt too bad but still had to cut it all out and replace

so i used the POR 15 aswell on the inside of the car too. i fully bare metaled the floor. may be overkill but at least i know its all done right.

only just fits on the garage with the doors open :/

unpicked the jack mounts from inside the quarters.

Image

took out the fuel flap bowl as i planned to remove the fuel flap altogether but decided against that. but needed to remove it to repair the quarter anyway
