Hey Graeme et al - COM Shift Kit Question

Post by bbogue »

I'm slowly rebuilding a spare COM transmission for swap into my 61 Thunderbird when the time comes or to use the experience to rebuild the one in my car. I've read that installing a Transgo shift kit is a good idea but neither the moderator on the Ford transmission forum nor the parts supplier (Fatsco) recommended it. I might install the kit anyway. Other thoughts and experiences are welcome. FWIW my engine is slightly more powerful than stock.
Thanks.

Hi Bill,

I have a Transgo Shift kit in my Cruiso - it is a NOS box of parts that I found on eBay US. My transmission guy set it up for me but gave me back the original parts as they can be changed at any time without having to pull the transmission.

How did I find the kit with my stroker engine I hear you say? Works just like you would expect, nice smooth changes but when you give it a kick at the lights for example it holds hard and shifts hard.

I'd go with it again if I had to.

Thanks Graeme. I think I have a source. SK3V is the one for my car.
