Hi Subbie,

On researching the FE and Ford Transmission forums, I have ordered a NOS transmission shift kit for my MX transmission. This kit should let the MX transmission survive for a longer time and when the time arrives l will then begin work with the C6.

Having the kit installed in the coming week, transmission builder had to have bands relined and converter checked out as the MX had chewed up bands or something bad! over the last few years.

probably should delete my comments from this thread and create a new thread when that time comes - thoughts?

I guess if your discussing something other than the C6 conversion starting a new thread is a good idea.

I'm going to be putting a 398 ci small block and c6 in my 62 bird. I just joined the forum, see where u did the c6 deal. I don't understand how u modified the mount and how it mounts. Does it move it rearward or front? If u would show or tell me step by step the procedure and as many pictures as u can, I would appreciate it. Thanks :???:

You'll have a bunch more mods to make if you're installing a Windsor SBF - not the same mounting that the original FE-series 390 used. Please start a new thread to show us how you're doing such a swap.

I think the mount attaches to the sub frame in the same spot it's were It mounts to the c6 is further back hence the modification to the mount.
