What is the procedure to change a 1980 power window motor?

Post by Iroczone »

I just bought a great 1980. The drivers side motor appears to be bad. The lights dim a little when I toggle the switch. Can I buy the motor at a regular parts store? And is there anything hard about changing out the motor?

Thanks

It was a common part number shared with many other Ford vehicles of that era, so a parts store should be able to get a replacement for you. Get the interior door panel off, unbolt the motor, and replace.

I got a new motor assembly at a local parts place. I took off the door panel and it appears the motor was replaced once before or at least cleaned and greased the track. I propped up the window, unplugged the motor and took out 3 screws. I installed the motor and it worked great. I appreciate the information.
