Re: basic tool kit?

I bought a Craftsman top and bottom box back when Sears still owned the brand and over the course of a few years loaded it up. I used to restore classic VW bugs so I had a bevy of metric stuff but loaded up on SAE as well. At that time they were selling pretty complete combo metric/SAE sets by drive...

Re: Bullet Bird Values

Good point regarding value for insurance as well as when you leave this earth. I am meeting with the lawyer this week to update my will. I will value it at 15K as well. To Birwatchwers point. One of these shows up in a period movie and values are up overnight.....not the way my life seems to work. I...

Bullet Bird Values

I am betting that not many of us are expecting a massive return when we decide to move on to another project and I am so upside down in my bird I am planning on being buried in it...maybe not? Does anyone have a pulse on the value of 61-63 models? I monitor Hemmings and it seems that unless you have...

Re: how often do you drive your bullet baby?

For good or bad I live on the gulf coast (Texas) and have the reverse issue of it being too bloody hot to go for much of a drive in the heat of summer, even with A/C it can be miserable and your eyes are glued to the temp gauge but I digress. Car was in the shop when Hurricane Harvey hit almost two ...

Re: detent/shifter lever swap addendum

Thank you for the additional detail, I have this project on my list as I need to pull the wheel anyway so I might as well do this whilst the wheel is out for restoration. Best to have lessons learned before starting this project.

Re: White landau top vinyl

Wow, great job, your patience and attention to detail is commendable. You were lucky to have an additional resource to help with the installation of the vinyl. That second set of hands is something I rarely think about until it is too late. I have a Princess Grace which had the Rose Beige top but th...

Re: 63 Electric Radiator Fan suggestions

I just went through this on my 63. I doubled my clearance issues by installing a 3" aluminum radiator from Wizard cooling. Of course I never put all these pieces together in my head before I ordered it? Duh! I digress, Derale makes a 16" fan which if I remember right I had just a hair unde...
