Re: Transmission issues!
Thanks Bob. I haven't spent much time under the car lately. How tough is it to pull the tail shaft while laying on your back under the car?

Transmission issues!
The Cruise-o-matic in my '62 stopped shifting. It won't move out of 1st. I am assuming it is either the vacuum modulator or the governor. My question is how tough are each of these to swap out in the car? From preliminary inspection it appears the transmission support will have to be removed to get ...

1961-2-3 Seat hinge covers
I need the left and right inner plastic cover pieces that go on the front bucket seat hinge arms on a 61-63 T-bird (the smaller pieces shown below). These are each fastened to the outside cover pieces with 2 Philips head screws. I have the outer plastic hinge covers, but for some reason both of the ...

Pat Wilson reproduces the entire tonneau cover assembly from the original molds. He can probably fix you up. His number is 973-579-7205.

Re: Ultrasonic Cleaner
Thanks jhenry. I use my parts washer and bead blaster for the really nasty stuff, along with my trusty wire brush. Just thought I'd supplement those to work small mechanical/electrical bits; ultrasonic cleaner also works really well on stainless and chrome parts (at least those that fit in the mach...

Re: Ultrasonic Cleaner
I use one almost daily. It is great for removing minor dirt and soil on small, intricate or delicate parts like clock gears (or dentures). However, it is not designed to remove heavy soil, corrosion or old paint. Nothing beats a wire brush and media blaster for such jobs. To be truthful, I can't thi...

Re: Air Cleaner Dent Repair
Here is what I have so far. I fashioned a prying tool out of the garage door spring tool and was able to reach in an with a lot of tapping got it worked out to the point where I can do a little more shaping with a light grind and then fill with plastic. I tried to use some solder as filler but I co...

Re: Anyone replaced their convertible top?
I did my '65 myself since I had nobody within a reasonable distance to take it to. Although there are some areas I'm sure I could improve on if I had to do it again, I am glad I gained the experience and will soon be installing a new top on my '62. The key is to take your time and be prepared to do ...

Re: painting door panels
I'm currently in the process of painting all the interior surfaces in my '62. I'm using the Dupont vinyl paint that was recommended to me by Jim Mills. I prepped by cleaning the parts with lacquer thinner and applied with a small paint gun. The adhesion is very good and the parts dry to the touch wi...

Re: VIN number plate no color
the VIN number plate on my 1965 Tbird Convertible is basically without any color, just the metal silver. I see for sale on ebay companies that offer to make plates with the VIN info I would give them. What are thoughts and info for Concours on these? Will the new plate also be acceptable by DMV Dep...

Re: 66 convertible top adjustment
It could be something as simple as a latch adjustment. You should be able to adjust the "J" hook by threading it in or out to set the length. That could be the problem.
