Re: 1963 Tbird Single to Dual Master Cylinder
Success!! I followed Old Rustys suggestions and installed the SSBC MC1001 Dual Master cylinder and it works great with the proportioning block. Drove about 30 miles today. The pedal effort is slightly more to stop but for someone who had never driven the car before they probably would not know the d...

Re: Courtesy light short
Gagarin, Glad to hear you were successful in solving the electrical problems! Also happy that I could be of assistance. For most of my electrical issues I do the continuity check to find out where my wires are going or not. Unintentional grounds or wires that were routed to the wrong location are th...

Re: Brake Self Adjusters
Karl, you may be able to make a small business out of selling specialty parts to 63Tbird owners! I agree with Karl in that I have tried a few different vendors self adjusting cables for the 63 and they seem to be around an 1/8" to 1/4" too long at least for the front brakes that do most of...

Re: Courtesy light short
Good luck on working around the fuse box. Its not as difficult as working under the dash on the drivers side but there is no real comfortable position to put your self into to work on it unless you really want to get adventurous and take out the passenger seat. With the kick panel off and the door p...

Re: Courtesy light short
I like the electrical challenges. With the light on and the fused pulled there can be only 3 causes. First is that you may have pulled the wrong Fuse. The Courtesy light fuse should be the 3rd socket down on the left side of the fuse panel (the first socket may be empty). Double check that is the co...

Re: 1963 Tbird Single to Dual Master Cylinder
Thanks OldRusty! I searched this site and the modified site a couple of times and did not find your thread. Thanks for reposting. That is another great option. The unit looks more like the original. Only CJ Pony sells the unit that is in stock as far as I can see. I found a couple of other options no...

Re: 1963 Tbird Single to Dual Master Cylinder
There apparently are two Wagner units that would work as a dual master replacement for the 62-63 Tbirds without brace modifications. They are MC64829 as has been posted and MC73323. Both are identical in design. I called Wagner and found both are discontinued from production. That will definitely li...

Re: 1963 Tbird Single to Dual Master Cylinder
Bummer I ordered the Autozone M1485 master cylinder which looked like a great replacement for the Wagner MC 64829 and it arrived today . Here is the image of the item that is on their online site and in the order confirmation: http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL891/3760518/24687297/414392675.jpg . Ho...

Re: Air pressure in Wireweels and Radials
Lennart, I can relate. Here in Minnesota also we have had snow on the ground since late November. Temperatures are finally reaching 5 C during the day so the snow has been melting. We still have 3-4" left - 7-10cm. I usually cant get my Tbird out of storage until mid to late April. When I do I ...

Re: Air pressure in Wireweels and Radials
Lennart. I have wire wheels with steel belted radials and radial inner tubes on my 63 Tbird. Uniroyals 215/70-14. I was told to inflate them to 35 psi. Seems to be working well now for the past 3 years. Good ride comfort. No issues on tire wear. The biggest challenge with wire wheels and radial inne...

Re: 1963 Tbird Single to Dual Master Cylinder
I ordered the Autozone master cylinder for a 67-70 Mustang. It will be here this week. I saw the Wilwood type unit also and it was in the scarebird thread for disc brake conversion. It looks like it will fit but is also a hundred dollars more. The conversion does not look to hard.

1963 Tbird Single to Dual Master Cylinder
To build on an earlier thread on conversion of Single to Dual Master cylinder for a 62 Tbird , the brake booster on my 63 Tbird needs rebuilding. I put the car in storage last October knowing that the booster was starting to fail. When you press the brake pedal to put the car in gear the car wants t...

Re: Correct Front Wheel Cylinders for '63
Back to the original 2019 question of how to bleed these wheel cylinders (-a new thread probably should have been started) I am curious is anyone has a good method. As Davashcow posted it is difficult to bleed. When I replaced mine a few years ago I had to take the backing plate off to get the front...

Re: Winterize
I agree with Icon on the sheeting under the car for Midwest storage: My routine is 1. Change the oil and ensure the coolant is good to -30F. We got that low last winter but the garage only got down to -10F. 2. Ensure tires have correct pressure ( it will drop when it gets cold) 3. Add a can of seafo...

Re: Pink-Resistance Wire
After trying to figure out what the correct combos are for ignitions on our 12 Volt 8 cylinder cars the following seem to be the ones available. The system resistance is an important selection on setting up the ignition system. The pink resistance wire is located under the dash connected to the igni...
