Re: Start of the restoration on the 70
There are not that many 67-71 around it seems, so the number of posts and active users in this area seems to reflect that. In the 5 years I have owned my 69, I have only ever seen 2 others. 1 4 door while on the road, and 1 2 door last year at a local show. There are a number of friendly and knowled...

Re: Friends driving your car.
I have let my father drive my T Bird. He let me learn I to drive in his cars after all. And my best friend. He let me drive his new 911 convertible so I figured it was only fair! My mech has also driven it for a test drive after a brake service. Again, he let me drive his Camaro SS, and I have known...

Re: What did you name your bird?
My daughters named our '69 "Ali". Early on in owning this car, I was explaining what a survivor car is, and referenced the alligator pattern in the original landau material. They latched onto calling her "Ali" right away. For Christmas they gave me a small stuffed animal alligato...

Dash lights - backwards?
I don't often drive my T Bird at night, but did last week. I think it had been 2-3 years since I did last. At dusk I pulled on the headlights, but the dash remained very dark. I was fiddling with the rotary control, twisting it all the way to the RIGHT. Nothing, And then (5 minutes from home of cour...

Re: collectibilty
I cannot argue that the cars "newer" than 66 are indeed less desirable. Which for me is perfect. I was able to pick up my low mileage very original '69 5 years ago for way less than a comparable 61-66. I bought it to drive it, and will eventually sell it, so I am not looking to collect per...

Re: Currently rebuilding a 1968-71 clock
Cool work. I have a 69 with a clock stuck for the 5 years I have owned the car.

Nice 57 near Grand Canyon
I was on vacation with the family in Scottsdale last week. One of our side trips was out to the Grand Canyon. I noticed this lovely bird in a display at a gas station about 30-40 miles out from the canyon. There were other classics in the mix, but I only had eyes for the T Bird of course! ./image-ar...

Another Monroe user here. Granted it is for a 69, but the ride improved as expected, and the $ was right for sure.

Re: '67 Tudor Landau
You just don't see a lot of 67-70's anyway (in 5 years of ownership of my 69, I have only ever seen 1 other), so to see one that has had so much love put into her is great.
Thanks for posting!

Re: 67 Thunderbird and 69 Mark III
Nice pair, and I LOVE the barn! Wish I had one of those. Cool to see the interior of the 67, it is quite different from my 69 (bench). I grew up riding out in the back of the late 60's and early 70's station wagons (all Fords) on long family trips. Used to bring a pillow out there and fall asleep be...

Re: No brake lights on 67
I should stay out of it, as I don't have a 67, but in my experience it is/was the column switch that was the culprit. I bypassed the column switch (took a wire off the brake pedal switch and put it into the trunk box) and had brake lights. That is how I eventually diagnosed my problem. Of course by ...

Re: No brake lights on 67
When I want to figure it all out, I turn to Cougars Unlimited and their excellent information about troubleshooting. Here is the link to the info on your era Bird. http://stores.ebay.com/BARGANSPOT/1965-1971-T-Bird-Troubleshooting.html I have mine figured to the column switch, which I will need to r...

Re: Help with deciding between TBirds
An interesting question. I checked Haggerty for average valuations of the 2 cars. It appears that currently a 66 Landau with the 428 would be worth more than a 67 with any motor, in either 2 door or 4 door. Both are flat line for about 4 years in terms of change in the value of one in any condition....

Re: insurance value
If you go to Hagerty's website they have a value calculator for many cars, ours included. You can plug in the basics and see values for cars in various states. I find their valuation to split the difference between sale price and insurance value. Insuring my 69 I gave them a value for the car, the a...
