Re: Need advice on window maintenance

Lying flat...it works much better when standing vertically. Thanks for the guidance.

Re: Sunvisor

The pair on my '65 look like your white one. Intrigued, I looked for an answer in the parts manual. Strangely, there's a page for 1961/63 and a page for 1965/66 body type 76, but no page for the 64. Sorry that's not really an answer to your question, but your white one would at least appear to fit a...

Re: Need advice on window maintenance

Ok, so I took the rear window assembly completely apart, cleaned off all of the old grease, put new grease on the tracks and rollers, and sprayed the window channels with DuPont Silicone/teflon. Sitting on the bench, hooked up to a 12v power supply the window goes up really well and draws about 5-6 ...

Re: Need advice on window maintenance

Today I'm working on the right rear window. The rubber strip on the window needs to be replaced. Does anyone know where to get it and how to replace it? I'm not sure how it's attached to the window and the illustration in the assembly manual doesnt show it. https://s20.postimg.org/mdtm7gbyl/IMG_1983...

Re: my thunderbird's gate release

Here's mine. Over a year earlier and gas was the exact same price. If you're not familiar with SoCal, Bellflower is right next to Long Beach. https://s20.postimg.org/ohgt0kgzx/IMG_1240.jpg As a bonus, here's the gate release for the car with the serial number of mine. The factory screwed up, so my V...

Re: Making a bench testing power supply from a computer P/S

I thought this was a pretty genius idea. Here is my 2nd version. The entire thing is self contained, and I added a dpdt switch and a power light (an led connected to one of the 3.3v wires) to it. The reason for the dpdt switch is because I'm working on the windows in my car and I need to 'blip' the ...

Re: Need advice on window maintenance

Thanks, Paul. I've replaced every single vacuum line in the car. It's funny you mention the brass and plastic couplers because mine are that way, too. When I tested the lock unit it was with a short piece of new tubing connected to a Mity-vac. Both of them will hold a vacuum in one direction (down, ...

Re: electrical connection question

Do these pictures help? I think the plug you're looking for is labeled 'H' in the diagram.

Re: Need advice on window maintenance

Thanks, Paul, I appreciate the list. I guess it will be a little longer before it gets to the paint shop. Hopefully, though, it's the last major thing that needs to be done. I have the interior gutted like you did and I've already replace every bit of vacuum line a couple of vacuum motors, and the h...

How do I change this bulb?

Sounds like a blond joke, right? Really, though, I'm serious. It's the glove box light.

Need advice on window maintenance

I want to get the car painted, but first I want to get everything that's attached to the car fixed. I'll work on the stuff that's out of the car while it's gone. To that end, I declared today to be window day, the day I set out to find what works and what doesn't and then figure out what to do next....

Re: 1964-66 Dash

Here are some more pictures of the Batmobile. I was at a car show today and it was by far the coolest car there. It started as a Lincoln Continental, but he modified the heck out of it, using the console from a '64 TBird. Unfortunately, that's the closest thing they had to a Flairbird at the show, b...
