EWWWW!
Smoked-in cars are gross. I refuse to ride in 'em.

Re: conversion from single to dual exhaust on 63 bird
Waldron Exhaust makes a complete dual system for '63's in either aluminized or stainless steel. They have mufflers only, no resonators. Using this option, you would not have to change your exhaust manifolds. http://waldronexhaust.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=61_40_89&produ...

Re: Black smoke
Manifold vacuum actually drops during heavy acceleration. And trans fluid being burned produces white smoke, not black.

Re: Having trouble finding a body panel
I checked the websites of The Bird Nest, and Classic Sheet Metal (who probably supplies repair panels to Bird Nest) and they do not sell the panel you are looking for. And chances of finding an NOS panel are probably remote. So you're probably left with finding a donor panel off a car that's being w...

Re: Dash lights - backwards?
Yes, that's the way the dimmer switch has operated on every old car I've owned. And usually if you turn the knob all the way left you hit a detent; turn a little further and your interior lights come on.

Re: New tires: Firestone or Maxxis?
Sorry I don't have any additional info about the Firestone or Maxxis tires other than they don't seem to have the whitewall width I am looking for. I currently have Goodyear Polysteel Radials P215/75R/15 tires with a 1.3" WW on my 64 HT that I really like and have had a lot of good comments on...

Pontiac called their 3X2 setup "Tripower", 6-Pack was strictly a Mopar thang.

Re: RADIATOR HEAD TANK...
Wally I believe in T-Birds the engine was actually installed tilted forward a few degrees. Hence the need for the carb spacer to be thicker at the front to allow the carb to sit level.

Re: Original wheel rim sizes
The wheels originally fitted to the car were 15 X 5.5"
A modern tire size of 215/75 X 15 works well with this wheel.

Re: Is this exhaust correct for 1964?
It looks like they have reshaped the pipes that go from the resonators to the mufflers; these were the ones that gave my installer the most trouble. And it also looks like the wrinkles are gone from the muffler outlets.
Great work on our behalf from the two Jim's!

Re: Is this exhaust correct for 1964?
Yes, when I called Waldron's and told them I had incurred extra labour charges due to the installers having to re-bend some of their piping they apologized and refunded me $150, even though I had not asked for a refund!
I was pleasantly surprised, to say the least.
