63 Radiator upper support.
G'day. I am looking for a upper radiator support for a 63 T'Bird. I think that 61 - 63 are the same but if they are not I am just looking for a 63. My car had a 65 radiator in it. Three weeks ago I replaced it with a correct 63 radiator and I had to drill new holes to fit it to the radiator and it s...

Re: OEM Intake Manifold Bolts P/N’s: 370478-S and 20468-S
G'day Jonathon. You can purchase the long one from AMK Inc. They don't show the short one however you could just cut the longer one down. https://www.amkproducts.com/bulk-fasteners-listing/?codeforlookup=7035 Also according to AMK Inc the numbers that you quoted (370478 no grade, 20468 grade 2). The...

Re: Voltage regular wire
G'day.
If you have a look at the link that Adrian, "The Thunderbird" posted. The wiring diagrams for a 63 Thunderbird, on page I5C3. It is used to attach a radio suppressor to.
I think I saw it used for a test meter in a later model, not sure though.

Re: steering column grounding
G'day. I did pull the steering column out. I did this when I had the steering box overhauled. I suppose it was easier to access everything at the same time. I stripped the steering column down and cleaned & painted it. I thought the wires would of been a problem to replace but I soldered the new...

Re: Rear axle flange measurements?
G'day 63_downlow. The axle that I have doesn't have the bearing or the rear wheel retainer on it. I think the axle I have is a modern one just so I can spin the rear brake drums. From what I worked out Thunderbirds are "Big Ford Old Style". The measurements work out the same for the gasket...

Re: Rear axle flange measurements?
I have a Ford axle, not sure what year. I use it to machine my rear Thunderbird brake drums out on on a lathe.
Where exactly do you want the measurements to be taken?

Re: steering column grounding
Could be a broken wire inside the column. When I did my steering column the wires were in bad condition. They were brittle, some were short and had been repaired a number of times over the years.
The trouble is there is not much room inside to do anything.

Re: steering column grounding
G'day ornithology If you have a look at the https://www.vintagethunderbirdclub.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=20299 and scroll down you will see a wire that goes around the rag joint. This could be at fault. Also there is a grounding wire from the steering box to the body as the steering gear is rubber i...

Re: Steering Coupler Fastener for Rag Joint
G'day Sombb. When I replaced the coupler in my car, I purchased a kit and the bolts seemed a little sloppy. I made up some new nuts and bolts and fitted those. The bolts that were supplied in the kit didn't have the step in them like the original rivets. From memory I think there was a larger diamet...

Re: Steering Coupler Fastener for Rag Joint
G'day,
As far as I know it is a standard imperial size.
From memory I used a 7/16 or 1/2" socket.

Re: Oil pressure sender wire connector
G'day. Yes that is correct. The female terminal goes over the top of the oil pressure sender. The male end goes into the female plug that should be located near the front of the left hand rocker cover. There is three wires that come out of the wiring harness that runs along the inside edge of the le...
