Re: What's the longest trip you've made...

I find myself taking less and less tools and parts. I dropped my son off at a bible study, I realized I did not even carry a screwdriver. It was a good feeling (and a good sign). Lol, that won't happen again, I have this great 50's era tool box, it was my grandfathers, I am going to carry it in the ...

Re: Carb leak when hot and engine off.

Yep, thanks guys. Looks just like that, just a dribble once the engine is hot and off. Nothing whilst its running. comes out of the butterfly shaft ends. After a year of driving everyone on this forum crazy with questions, new carb, hoses, vacuum lines, carb gaskets, carb spacers, intake gaskets, p...

What's the chances of that? That's awesome. 2 great cars for sure, but I see you have the "R" quite a bit quicker....

Re: Carb leak when hot and engine off.

As Chris said, bushing on an old carb can be worn. Mine were and caused vacuum leaks. Idle fluctuations and rough idling. I have been experiencing fuel boiling over for for the last year or so, if what you are experiencing is like me, you drive around and turn off the engine, you look down the carb ...

What's the longest trip you've made...

Hey guys, I am just getting comfortable running distances, I have only traveled approx 20 miles from home, now that I have been a couple trips under my belt without issues (past issues do to dirty fuel tank). I am curious if the 30 mile radius is pretty common, or if you all generally go further dis...

Re: 57 fuel line installation

I just recently redid the front section, it was pretty easy, started with a straight tube, bent my own using the original as a template. After pulling the old one out, I found a very flattened section which I suspect was causing some problems at freeway speeds. Very glad I decided to redo the line. ...

Re: Wide White Wall Tires

My friend has a 57 running 205/70r15 American classics. They fit well, He has the wire rims the only thing he had to do was on the shorten the center spinners by ½ inch because they would hit the fender skirts. I personally have the 57 with stock steel wheels running the 205/74r14 I feel they look t...

Lol, you both got that right. Certainly were moments of defeat, still nervous about calling a victory here, but yesterday's drive went very well. Joe, I am pretty confident that I have learned enough to get us home, if I can get three trips in without issues I will celebrate, drinks are on me... Chr...

Re: Think I've found my problem, it's been trouble since day one....

Test drive went great, ran very smooth, strong and much quicker, had lots of throttle even while passing traffic. No studdering on the freeway, nor did the rpm's drop & surge at the lights. Fuel bowl is clear and clean, gonna pull the second filter off, feeling comfortable there is no junk left ...

Just gonna sneak this question in while you wait for your answer, I see you are driving a 312 as well. Coast to coast is amazing to me, what was your average speed, mileage and did you cary extra fuel.

Re: Inline fuel filter

I received the new filter today, it made perfect sense once I Slipping the gasket over the filter and installed them according to #2. So much better than my first attempt. I can see how the seal is way better than before. I hope everyone with a filter like this sees this post and installs correctly....

Re: Inline fuel filter

Ok so make sure you put the filter in position first, then slide the rubber gasket over the filter. The filter should have a bit of material protruding past the filter elements so the rubber gasket presses again it and the float lid when the bowl is attached. The spring may be overkill and may cause...
