Re: elect switch removal
G'day. From memory I think you have to remove the panel. All that holds the switch in is a couple of tabs on the switch that is bent over. If you were to pry it out it probably would bend the tabs and allow the switch to come out but then you never would be able to get the switch back in and bend th...

Re: Gas cap
G'day. I own a 63 so there may be some differences. When I purchased my car it had a vent pipe as original which wrapped around the tank spout and a non vented cap. On some drives especially on winding roads up an incline and it would depend on how full the tank was I could smell petrol. It was so b...

Re: Engine wires.
G'day Jim. Thanks for both lots of the photo's. I have downloaded the photo's that you supplied the link with. A lot of information there. That will help me with a lot of other areas as well. A friend of mine had a 63 hard top some time ago and I went to have a look at it. He said that there wasn't ...

Re: Engine wires.
Thanks Jim the photo's and dimensions off both of the clips ( cowl and valve cover) would be appreciated. as all of mine are missing I will fabricate my own. Could you also send a photo and dimensions of the clip that is in the drivers side corner that holds the main loom to the cowl, that one is al...

Don't forget to re-set the float level.

Re: Engine wires.
Thank you very much Jim, very much appreciated. With your information and going back to the Electrical assembly Manual I can now see the two separate looms. Although the Assembly manual doesn't show the brown wire. Going on what you say about the brown wire coming through a separate hole I am back t...

G'day.
A photo can sometimes be deceptive but in your two photos it looks like the spring clip that holds the floats in position is not seated lower enough to hold the floats in place.
Can you lift the floats in and out without unclipping them?
Karl.

Engine wires.
G'day. Looking for some Photo's / information. I have always thought that my 63 Bird had air con as standard. The reason behind this thought is, in the dash there is all the necessary items for the air con. The engine that was in the car when I purchased it was a 66 engine so I reconditioned a 63 en...

G'day.
According to the master parts catalogue they have different part numbers.
I was under the impression that they are not interchangeable.

Re: Original rims
Sorry for the late reply but I have been away over Christmas. Thanks everyone for the photo's and advice, they give me a better idea. Trying to find original ones in Australia would be hard but now I have a better understanding of what to look for. At the end of the day I may just have to settle for...

Re: Original rims
Thank you very much for your reply Alan. And thanks for the drawing. It seems that it is not that simple. When I purchased my T'Bird back in 2009 it came with 15" rims. I replaced the rims keeping them 15" because I used the same tyres and I couldn't find original "T"Bird rims. T...

Original rims
G'day. I am looking at replacing the 15" rims on my 63 hardtop with the correct 14" rims. I have a image with the specs of the dimensions for a rim. file - Copy.jpg Being in Australia there are not many used Thunderbird's to obtain good rims from. I was asked the question weather the rims ...

Re: Rolling idle
You might have a air leak on the base of the carburetor which allows air to be drawn in.
Spray some carby cleaner around the base of the carburettor whilst the engine is running and see if that has an effect.
One of your vacuum hoses may have a leak also. Plug all the hoses and see how that goes.

Re: Rolling idle
G'day. As far as I know the little ball bearing is a one way valve for the accelerator pump system. If it was stuck I don't think it would cause a rolling idle, more likely the engine would stall when you went to accelerate. Sounds more like the fuel is bypassing the idle system somewhere if when yo...

Why don't you do the other end back up and that will hold it steady.
