Autolite 4100's
Based on some reading I've done today a '64 thunderbird should have a 600 cfm carb denoted by a 1.12 on the front drivers corner. Mine is a 1.08 that, to my understanding is either a 480cfm version or possibly a '66 or later California emissions carb. I doubt that. Can anyone confirm which carb '64'...

Re: bent rod
I have a digital caliper...too short unfortunately. The best option I had was this: http://www.busybeetools.com/products/precision-t-rule-6in-incra.html Mine is a 12 inch and has markings for measuring down to the 64th of an inch. Working my way up from 16th's to 64th's I evaluated where the rod len...

Re: bent rod
Pulled the other side off tonight, all the rods have a deflection of a mm, more or less. Nothing ugly like the other side's exhaust valve.
But, I put a magnet on the stands in the rocker arm assembly...not magnetic. Were the original stands aluminum?

Re: Another fuel gauge issue
Can you do it with the tank in place or do you need to drop it?

Re: Another fuel gauge issue
My understanding is that the 'repop' senders are reliable in this outcome and require bending on install. Mine is this way...am terrified to take it below 1/4 but i've never put more than 55 litres in. The service manual say there's 3 1/2 gallons left when the low fuel light comes on. I'm not sure w...

Re: bent rod
Have had the same recommendation from a couple other folks...is unanimous...just replace the bent rods and leave it at that. Will just have to keep an eye on fluid levels to make sure the head gasket is ok.

Re: bent rod
I'm gathering that bent rods are a function of these cars often sitting and being started with old fuel causing stuck valves. I don't have anything to go on, so this seems reasonable. So far as replacing I've been researching. There's a lot of opinion out there, but here's the 'simple' approach I'm ...

bent rod
So, in the process of switching plugs I thought it would be a good time to replace a pesky valve cover gasket that is past its prime and my sole source of leaks at this point, and have a look to see if there's any explanation for how the motor is running. The finding is a bent rod on the second and ...

Re: Brake light switch
For what it's worth I unplugged and replugged in my '64 while rerouting wires and in doing so disturbed the corrosion that was in the plug. Several rounds of clean up got the connection back. May not be your issue, but worth a mention.

Re: Wiring harness gauge question
Could modify one of these to assist in diagnosis of each fused circuit. Some solder and a blown fuse would probably do it.

Re: Need advice on window maintenance
If it helps, but I seriously doubt it does, my 64 left window is laser fast, the right front is slow, less than half the pace of the other side. I have a brand new switch panel.
Now i'm interested in what my resistances are.

Re: '66 front power window switches
Recently had the same thing happening and ordered the whole assembly as you have. Problem fixed. The issue in my case that caused me to order a whole new assembly is that all the switches were tired to say the least. There's a black rubber tape like material that holds the switch body to the housing...
