Re: valve cover

Oil breaking down, carbon?
I've seen that on other cars but never my own.

Re: The problem with the rear sway bar kit

I ended up using some thick angle iron for the mounts. They were very solid and didn't move at all but all that didn't help. Also bought some clamps to limit how much the bar could move side to side and that helped a little but still had banging, especially when traversing curbs. The real problem wa...

Re: Rear Main Seal Replacement Question

Hello Gray, and welcome! I'm not sure if even the rear main could leak that fast. I would get under there and look all over. If you can't see an obvious leak, clean it up some with rags and maybe some brake cleaner. Then take a short drive and check again. But first, I would check the oil filter. So...

Re: brakes

There's no adjustment to the amount of boost you get. That's dependant on the sizing of components.

Re: brakes

That would be my guess but for any "new" purchase of one of these cars I always recommend going through the entire brake system. It pays to make sure there are no leaking cylinders, calipers or other components and especially that the rubber brake lines (3 each) have been replaced.

Re: Need advise

Steve put it well. Unless you're really into this car and can or want to do body work, paint, etc, you're not going to be thrilled with dumping 30K+ into it along with a lot of blood, sweat and tears (lots of tears! LOL). OTOH, if you really like the car, they are sweet rides when everything is fixe...

Re: Lower shift bushing

If you haven't replaced all the parts that wear at the top end of the colum, I suggest you just remove it and do everything at once. Scott That's why I was hoping to do this without removing the column... I've replaced the shift arm/detent etc., and didn't want to have to deal with more column issu...

Re: 1966 duel master break

Does the portioning valve go to both the front and back brakes or just the back, with the single line MC? If it goes to both front and back won't a different ported proportioning valve be needed with a dual MC? The PV goes in the line to the rear brakes only. You can use the same PV with a dual MC....

Re: Lower shift bushing

People put all kinds of junk in there instead of replacing the bushing. Hopefully the white thing isn't in the way of putting the right bushing in. If you haven't replaced all the parts that wear at the top end of the colum, I suggest you just remove it and do everything at once. I had replaced ever...

Re: Replacing MC on a 66 with a dual bowl

JTS, That should work really nice, I've long thought we could use a 1 1/8 MC and it seems like the smaller size should fit like a dream. I suspect you'll have a slightly stiffer pedal but nothing serious. You'll have to let us know how this all works out!

Re: 1965 bird Harmonic balancer question

I believe the high temp of power coating would destroy the rubber in the balancer. So hopefullly it was disassembled before coating and reassembled afterward. If they also covered up the timing marks I'm not sure what you're going to do. The pin thing is very strange looking. When they balance these...
