Well that sucks! I think you'll find the diodes in the alt are bad. Even if you charge the battery these diodes will continue to discharge it.

Do the FPA headers make the car noisier?

This thread inspired me to look into my wonky shifter again. I still had the slop and poor indicator positioning after rebuilding the column years ago. I adjusted the linkage at the trans as well but the indicator was still goofy at P and R. Because of this post, I went looking for the bushings on m...

Can't remember where I read that now.. maybe the maint. manual - not sure.
I can tell you this, starting in second gear is really handy when driving in snow.

After 35 years of ownership I only recently found out that Ford intended for us to use the dot position so the car would start in second for normal everyday driving. I would have thought they intended us to use the dot-circle position so the car starts in first but that's not the case at all.

If your manifolds sealing surface is not perfectly flat or it's burned, the gaskets will fail in short order. FWIW, I've had the best results with the stock type sheet metal gaskets and I suspect the copper would be even better. The Felpro's stick too hard, don't allow even expansion and in my exper...

Hard to beat the stock heads when it comes to low end torque - especially with a little porting. The benefits of the aluminum Edelbrocks really only come into play at high RPM's.

Thanks John but I didn't see any white walls on the web site.

Thanks Bob and Ed, that's exactly what I remember tires of that era looking like.

Thanks for the lead - I'd not heard of Diamond back before.
They've got some nice looking white and red strip tires for mid 60's Tbirds that would look great on a red bird.

Don't know why she looks so shiny in that pic - it's really a bit misleading

WW tires?

Where are you guys finding white wall tires? I've checked all over and can't find anything but Coker (not a great tire) and Michilin, who has one with a very skinny WW. Sorry to all the purists in the audience but I wan't a radial. I drove this car with bias plies when I was a kid and it was horrend...

Hey everybody

I introduced myself over at the standard 64-66 forum (Hello from the rainy state) but suspect I'll be spending lots of time here.
I like the car to look stock but don't care about leaving the eng, brakes or suspension that way.
Looking forward to swapping tales with all of you.

Hello from the rainy state!

Hey everybody. New guy here but not new to T-Birds. My 64 was my first car which I got from my dad and has been through the mill as they say. In my teen years I cut it up and installed such cool necessities as gauges in the dash (I know, face palm right?). About 19 years ago I wen't through a stage ...
