Actually, the proposal passed! What I heard is that the county called the feds to see what steps needed to be taken to shut down the motorcycle emissions program, and the feds told them nobody had a guideline forr shutting them down because nobody else does it... I don't know if that story is true, ...

89 grand? Better question...250 miles?? I don't see anything about this in the description other than a statement about "federal law" (see below), but this must mean "250 miles since..." something , right? 250 miles since the re-upholstery? Since the new front end? Since the radi...

Not bad! My 62 Bird is on its way to Arizona now, and the good news is that it gets a free pass as an antique car - no emissions required. On the other hand, my county is the only county in the entire US that tests motorcycles for emissions (!) and my heavily modified Harley didn't even have a chanc...

Hi Ron, I think you got yourself a great deal with that 63 T-Bird and I agree that as a daily driver there is no point in struggling to bring it back to show specs...and I also think that interior looks cool! As for your creation...wow! I can certainly see how you would stop traffic with that one! I...

Just tried those links and YouTube says they have been pulled off for "multiple third party notifications of copyright infringement"... I wonder if they're available elsewhere?

Where is this awesome place?

Also...has anyone ever tried to figure out how many are left today, particularly out of the 1,427 SR's built for '62? I'm guessing there are fewer than 1,000 out there, but who knows...

Mine's a 62 Sports Roadster. Actually...you can see it this month on the cover of Scoop (VTCI Magazine) sitting in front of the Philly Art Museum...

Best regards,

Pony Carbs. I couldn't praise them enough. I went through three carb disaster before going to them and I could not be happier with the quality of their work. No short cuts and great performance. The Autolite 4100 is a really fine carburetor - it's also the right one - glad you got yours going, but i...

I haven't needed to have anything chromed in awhile, but when I built my Harley, I used Art Brass Plating in Seattle. Those guys are top notch. They probably have a web site...

Perhaps you have already tried this, but you can go to the T-Bird Registry at http://www.tbirdregistry.com and search for that car or owner. It would help to know the VIN number, of course, and I am guessing that you do not have this information, but if you search around there you might find somethi...

That thought crossed my mind. I need to check into that. I am hoping to find a way to put it on blocks, do all the engine and interior preservative stuff and cover it up, but a museum might be a good alternative.

Thanks,
Jay

Thunderbird "Parademaster"?

I have never heard of this one before. There is a car for sale on EBay called a 1962 Thunderbird Parademaster. The difference from a Sports Roadster seems to be that the usual SR tonneau cover is replaced with one that has a wide, padded seat instead of the headrest ramps. No hand grip on the passen...

Alan,

You must get a lot of this, but I just want to tell you how much I appreciate the time, IQ and experience you put into your posts here. You are an amazing asset to anyone who wants to do things right with a T-Bird.

Long Term Storage Services...

I am faced with the possibility of moving to China for a few years and want to know if anyone has any ideas on where to find a place to stash my 62 SR while away. I would prefer not to sell it, I love it too much, and I believe these things are going to increase in value. Are there outfits that do t...

Mike,

Wow...tough choice! A new roof on the house or an engine rebuild.

But when you really think about it, how wet could you actually get? I mean, a couple of extra blankets and a shower cap and you are really cruisin'!
