Re: Points or Electronic Ignition
The pink wire originates near the ignition switch, you may have to pull some tape back. IMG_0458.JPG The other end is on the right side above the passenger's feet. It's in the green connector. IMG_0461.JPG Ford bullet connectors are larger than the ones you find at the parts store, but can be found....

malbaby, I've moved your post to the proper section of the forum. this is where general questions go, not the tech section. please don't post general questions in the tech section, it's for articles and fixes that members have developed and want to share.

Re: Hood hinges
I had some hinges rebuilt for 2 different cars I was working on, a 56 Olds and a 60 Cadillac convertible, sent both to SMS. They ain't cheap but it's what they do. Good luck, Bob C

Re: Autolite date codes
I thought one way to check this out was to look at a 1965 calendar, sure enough October did have 5 Fridays. I've got 5 or 6 4100's squirreled away, non have tags. I'll look at the dots and years stamped to see if this theory holds up.

I'm pretty sure the 66 C6 was a one year only, something about the linkage or valve body IIRC. JMO Bob C

Re: 65 Thunderbird Shifts into reverse very easily
To be safe, you should always swing the column over to the right when parked, that locks the shifter in park. good luck, Bob C

Re: Exhaust control valve
I doubt it, the Autolite 4100 has a small vacuum signal to pull hot air through. FWIW, the heat riser isn't really needed unless you run in very cold weather. Good luck, Bob CNow I'm wondering if its because the hot air required to warm the choke is racing out the exhaust

Re: Exhaust control valve
The heat riser is in fact for quicker warm ups and better drivability after a cold start. The plate is closed by a bi-metallic spring, with the plate closed the exhaust is 'backed up' and forced through the passage in the intake manifold and out the other exhaust manifold, heating the intake and car...

no o-ring on fill tube, it's a big flared fitting kind of like a brake line.

Re: New member & Squarebird owner!
Welcome to the forum, you've got a sharp looking car  Disc brake upgrades are a constant topic here, in my opinion the worry over drums is unwarranted. You know the type of driving you'll be doing, circle track racing is probably not being considered. If you don't push the brakes to a point o...

Re: Distributor Shaft End Play
Bill, I think whichever way you go you'll be okay. With the end play in tolerance you eliminate timing swing, the gear can't make the shaft vary if it climbs then drops the helix if that makes sense. Your stuff is always interesting, fill us in on how it goes Bob C
