Re: Rear Main Seal Replacement Question

Thanks, I'll order a set of the metal gaskets. Anything in particular I should be looking for in the torque converter? A transmission shop like Amoco, can check out your converter there are different test they perform, it is heavy, the spindle from the trans. to the converter goes in one direction,...

Re: Rear Main Seal Replacement Question

I used the metal exhaust gaskets, though it is told if both surfaces are machined no gasket is needed, just the same you cannot go wrong with the metal gasket. Have your torque converted check while you have the chance with the engine pulled, it comes out easy peasy.

Re: Easier to replace windshield with dash out?

The windshield does contribute somewhat to a car's structural integrity, I don't know if the "drive up windshield repair" are as good as a shop's work, though having a windshield blow out at speed is not something to look forward about.

Re: Tires

Tire air pressure,is taken from the plate on the driver door or frame, on modern cars, Classics may be different where one would find the pressure needed, the pressure rating on the tire itself is not what is to be used. Possibly a factor to take in, is any weight reduction, eg.,iron manifold to alu...

Re: Door Panels

My door panels, had the same bottom rot problem, I had taken them to an upholster, who re-fabricated where they were rotted, giving the original layout of the panel, what was not included was the part on the bottom of the panels that slides into the door, keeping the panel firm against the door. I d...

Re: 390 Holley Carb.

Yes. Best to have the secondaries contributing during idle, particularly if you have a 4-corner idle set up. I had open the secondary transfer slots squared same size as the primary, The carburetor . was loading up, I closed the secondaries and installed a cap screw for the high speed idle, now I c...

Which begs questions like when was the car assembled, are there others with the same color scheme floating around out there and when were they assembled, was there one, two or more suppliers for these items, etc.
The car was assembled at Wixom, Jan.1966.

Re: 64-66 OFS Revisions - 1964-1966 Bumper Jack Photos Needed ASAP

These jack parts came with the car, They were painted with a "new"corporate blue paint, what leads me to believe they came through from the factory with blue paint, here is why I think so, looking closely at the latch for the up and down movement of the ratchet, when they were painted it w...

Re: 1966 Trunk Hinge Replacment HELP

These are the hinges and torsion bars from my 66, after the welding of the hinges where the torsion bars wore into, it was a difficult fix for us, not so much welding, then the placement of the bars. As I go along, I been painting with OEM paints for the most part, where it cannot be seen like the i...

390 Holley Carb.

Would anyone know if the secondary transfer slots on a Holley 4150 carb., are exposed at idle, as like the primary transfer slots?

If you are to order new ones be careful a lot of replacements do not have an OEM metal strip running along the top.
