Top binding on cylinder “buckets”
Another top question here. On my 63 the top frame will catch on the “buckets” that protect the deck lid cylinders just prior to being full in the truck before hitting the limit switch. Then the deck will close normally per the cycle. The top fits perfectly. No evidence of binding on the frame or it ...

Re: 62 Tbird Deck Lid Cylinder Replacement
I have a slow leak on one of my cylinders. I have the new ones but am a bit anxious exchanging them will open a whole new can of worms with broken/stripped hydraulic fittings etc. Does anyone have any comments on this? I wasn't planning on replacing all of the hoses unless necessary. These were repl...

Re: Why are these different? "Green Dot" shift indicat
Just out of curiosity, what position do most of you like to drive in? My 63 actually feels great in the “white dot” position which as I understand locks out first gear and always takes off in second. The 390 seems to have plenty of torque and feels very smooth here. Also does well with the “green do...

Re: Flipper Assembly
That is the set screw and associated ball bearing that go into the end of the housing for the flipper lid gear box. This screw adjusts the worm gear to take some of the “slop “ out of the system. Also, it can easily Be overtightened or stripped. I believe the original gear housings were pot metal an...

Re: 1961 Battery Hold Down Clamp
Bringing this thread back to life... does anyone have a pic of the hold down clamp actually in place grabbing the flange on the battery with the carriage bolt? I’m correcting little issues on my 63 roadster and this is one that has always bothered me. On that topic, it seems the consensus is the cor...

Re: Hood insulation
Thanks to Jim for the help! Turned out great. The pads definitely come a bit oversized. A few of them I trimmed as much as a half inch off based on the templates. Fit perfectly which really helped for a smooth installation as well.

No, haven’t tried the Thunderbird connection. I’ll check. I’ve had trouble finding them so was just wondering if there were any sourcing tricks I wasn’t aware of, such as if maybe mustang ones would fit

Re: Power window/seat relay
just curious, when you originally tested voltage, what did you use, a digital meter? I have, for a long time advised using an old fashioned test light with an incandescent bulb, they draw a little current and are dim with low voltage. good luck, Bob C Yes, digital meter. Great point on the old scho...

Re: Power window/seat relay
An update for anyone experiencing the same problem.. I did some troubleshooting this afternoon and it proved to not be the window relay. The 30 amp breaker tested ok. Had power to the seat as well but it would drop out with any load. Turns out it was a corroded connector at the post of the 30 amp br...

Power window/seat relay
I have a perplexing issue here. First off, windows and power seat were working fine. I was fiddling with the switch to my power seat as it was binding on the plastic of the side of the seat. I was probably applying current to the switch in an "on" position for 15 to 20 seconds which may ha...

Wiper blade
There are quite a few threads on here about wipers, switched etc but I’m having no luck finding the original style stainless blade holders. I have the stainless arms but just black plastic standard blade holders attached to that. I’ve looked at Bird Neat, Pat Wisolns etc. Thanks for the help! Tyler ...

Don't use Macs!
This is just a little post to vent. While I normally use Pat Wilsons or Larrys for everything I can, I could not find the headlight adjusting screw nylon nuts at either of these vendors so I ordered from Macs. The parts are the wrong item number and wrong size, don't fit at all. I have tried for ove...

Re: Hood insulation
Great, thanks for sharing the info. On your photo it almost looks as thought the smooth side is down towards the engine and the loose fiber side is up towards the hood?
