Re: Replacement Carb?

Is originality a consideration. If not, Summitt makes a very nice 500 CFM carb. Not sure the stock air cleaner will work.

The last time I looked there is no metal replacement. There was a fibreglass replacement at one time, not sure if still available.

Re: Replacement Wiper Arms, Common?

They look alike the set I bought for my 54 Ford - from Mac's. Don't know man8ufacturer. If your looking for replacements, I would go to CASCO , Hill's or Concour Parts. They would have original type, not the ones shown

Re: Pusher fan

If you have a cooling problem, I would suggest you find out why. Radiator need cleaning?, block needs cleaning? Got a wide mouth thermostat? Timing OK? Vacuum advance working OK?

Re: 1955 T Bird Camshaft identification

If it's a 58 cam, I doubt that it was better than a 57 cam. In 58, the 292(Ford) and 312 (Mercury) engines were base engines, not a performance engine like 57. Talk to John Mummert about a replacement cam. Bear in mind that many aftermarket grooved cams for a YBlock have a less than satisfactory gro...

Re: horn wire replacement 57 t bird

After three years, I hope the the wire has been changed. I don't recommend putting any kind of lubricant on the wire as it may cause the outside to disintegrate. Certainly not necessary. I have replaced a number of horn wires (in Tbirds and sedans) and never used a lubricant. I also find that string...

Re: '57 seat belt installation questions

If you are using the one eyebolt mounting, you can drill the hole where you want. I think the most important thing is the 2 inch figure as shown in the diagram. Just be sure wherever you drill the holes that you check underneath first to make sure you have room for the reinforcing plate and you are ...

Re: Transmission pan/torque converter

The automatic trans was never painted. This goes for the pan. To prevent rust, paint it flat clear if you want to factory correct, otherwise paint it the color you wish..

Re: Used Parts Supplier?

Hill's Restorations and CASCO are good sources for used parts. I don't know why some one is taking you to task for a very simple question. but it's real petty. Good way to turn off a new member.

Re: Skirt Gaskets

I use weatherstrip cement and the staples on my skirts. I DO NOT recommend stretching the gasket as It may pull back even though you have the cement and staples.

Power to the back up lights comes through the headlight switch. That is why the lights have to be on for the backup lights to work.

Re: SUN VISOR INSTALATION

If I remember correctly, I had to made the hole on mine. Yes.call CASCO tech line and they will help. Visors are usually made with a metal piece attached to the cardboard that the rod goes into. The rod does not go into the cardboard.
