Remove all the anodizing with several repeated sessions of oven cleaner.

That will change the whole look of the piece. It will be glossy.

Does your original have a lot of dents and dings? If not severe, and you can work any small blemishes out, I would look for an anodizing shop in your area and have the piece redone.

Sounds good. BTW, I had a Flamethrower burn up on me. The coil got so hot I noticed it started to bulge. When I went to disconnect it. I grabbed it and burned my hand pretty bad.
