Re: 64 Restoration

jtschug from what i been learning about spring steel, you have a quality set of leaf springs. What would be interesting to know or how to find out, would be, the SAE grade of the original leafs that came with the 64 through 66?

Re: 64 Restoration

Mechanical refurbs under way - The goal was to drive and preserve it, so anything that didn't need to be messed with wasn't. Opinions will vary - If we went down to every nut & bolt on the thing, it would have been insane on cost. As it is, it's good enough for me - cleaner than expected, overa...

Re: 1966 Trunk Hinge Replacment HELP

The torsion bars for the trunk had eaten into the hinges, so much so, it actually looked like it was a part of the hinge, causing the lid to bind when closing, the fix posted by Jamieson's Repair Shop, worked on my hinges, no more binding of the trunk lid when closing! :grab:

Re: 1966 Trunk Hinge Replacment HELP

As the beat goes on, my carb. had a constant port vacuum, it was repaired, while waiting for the carb. to get back, the trunk lid was next, it has been binding, taking the assembly out where the torsion bars hook in and go through the holes were elongated a spot weld is all that is needed to close t...

The shop you use should be able to do it, mine was tested by the radiator shop I used.

Re: Transmission dip stick oring

Well - what I ended up doing is putting an o-ring in the recess on the pan at the bottom of the threaded hole and a second o-ring on the shoulder of the threaded plug. So far no leaks! Thanks for helping. Jim, congrads. on fixing the leak. On my 66 the filler tube for the trans. is just pushed in t...

Re: Transmission dip stick oring

I ordered a new slightly different, dip stick tube for the trans. dip stick. The O ring is replaced. Hope it works, bleeding out at $9.00 a quart, adds up. That part did not work, I sent it back, the dip stick O ring, what is its I.D.? 1/2 " is the I.D. of the O ring for the bottom of the tube...

Re: Transmission dip stick oring

My trans. tube leaks like a stuck pig, not a good happening with type F at about $9. a quart I changed the O ring with no luck, it could be the tube is out of round after 50+ plus years, for sure it is not one of Ford's better idea, just a design problem waiting to happen.

A few years back on this post without a timing light, (since then I bought a one when Sear's was selling out), I now use both, light and gauge I like using a vacuum gauge, when tuning my beastly 390, it is pleasing to see the gauge nice and steady between, 17-21. I like using a vacuum gauge, when tuning my beastly 390, it is pleasing to see the gauge nice and steady between, 17-21. The following link has 16 different readings using a vacuum gauge, https://www.onallcylinders.com/2016/03/31/vac-visual-quick-guide-vacuum-gauge-readings/ I had thought I was post...
