Re: 55 brake booster rebuild

I had mine rebuilt by White Post Restorations. Mine was badly pitted inside and needed to have a sleeve installed. They do the work in house, had a quick turnaround, and provide a warranty. Worked great when I installed it.

"Factory 4 speed"

As a caution to members here, I want to tell everyone that as we explore the internet, PLEASE BE CAREFUL! I follow several forums and FB pages and recently came across a 56 with what the owner claims to have a "Factory 4 Speed" transmission. I have no problem with a 4 speed being installed...

Re: Car stalls when key is released!

Check the resistor by the coil for tight connections and continuity as well as the wiring to and from the resistor.
Diagnostics are spelled out in the Shop Manual.

As much as I hate to admit it, I have to agree with you. I have tried to sell some 57 items here with no luck, but quickly found buyers from some of the Facebook groups. That said, we try to monitor this site and eliminate any drama and posts that appear as scam. Only a few people have been banned w...

Re: Can the clock in my '57 be rebuilt?

Unbelievably, my original was still running! I believe it was only because I kept the battery disconnected after driving and the battery never was low over the years. Eventually I bought another clock, and had it converted to quartz and stored the original. The quartz was a cheap conversion using a ...

Re: Transmission cooler on 1955 radiator

Here's my question: can the engine be rotated manually while it's in Park? Of course!! Think of it like this, does an engine stay running if shifted into Park????????? How the crankshaft is turned has no impact on the transmission as they are separate units. Even if the car has a manual transmissio...

Re: Transmission cooler on 1955 radiator

Without wanting to appear offensive, I definitely would question the capabilities of your "mechanic"!! I understand few are familiar with vintage vehicles, but it troubles me as if there were questions or concerns, why the "mechanic" did not investigate a bit further and take a q...

After well over 60 years of use - perhaps you should consider sending the unit to have it cleaned, recalibrated and rebuilt? Google will find several speedometer rebuilding services.
