Re: Bent push rods

I just spot checked about 6 of the push rods. I only used a measuring tape, but from end to end they are about 9 5/8. They were the same size The recommendation to keep old pushrods in correct sequence is not because of the length but rather the wear characteristics at the ends as the engine gets b...

Re: Bent push rods

I wouldn't pull the engine just yet. I agree it could be a stuck lifter. Is it possible to get a borescope to look in the cylinder to see if the valves are bent? You can also check the height of the valve stems to see if they are all pretty much the same. That would be a fair indication that the val...

Re: Gunmetal grey code colour

Working on my neighbors 56 I did notice that the primer is gray after lifting several layers of paint. When the window frame was exposed we found it painted gray. My question is were all the body parts sprayed primer gray when the body parts came from the Budd company or did Ford have all the body ...

Re: Gunmetal grey code colour

Thanks Steve, but is there a standard code which we can give to the paint shop so they can make the paint for us? We are located in Europe. I went to the squarebird.org website and they have a technical section. If you look up in the paint section they take you to paintref.com. They also list color...

Looking for a T-Bird club here too....thanks again!!
You can start with checking at CTCI to see if there is a local chapter near you. They have a listing af chapters all over the country. Then there might even be another Thunderbird club near you that is not part of CTCI.

Re: Tonneau cover for 57 Thunderbird

Hi, For one thing your question is in the wrong place on this forum site. Anyway. I really don't know the answer to your question. I would first contact the suppliers to see if they have an option for canvas material tonneau covers. If the answer from them is "No" then I would go to a boat...

Re: Oil Pressure warning light comes on after a couple of minutes

First thing I would do is temporarily install a mechanical gauge to check / read for oil pressure. Then you can work from that to figure out what has to be repaired.

Re: In at the deep end - 55 T-bird in the UK

On the battery side of things, do I need to swap wires over on the coil and re-polarise the generator before swapping the battery around? With the steering, I appear to have the issue where the steering adjuster collar has separated from the upper steering hub (the push fit joint) so my steering wh...

Re: 1956 continental kit

I don't have a continental kit and have never worked on one. I've been told they can be pretty difficult to get adjusted. I have heard of them hitting on the trunk lid and of having difficulty getting the outer shroud assembled on so that it fits / looks correctly. Probably similar to the doors in t...
