Or you can check the HF mail outs. They usually are giving away multimeters if you purchase something else for a few bucks.

Re: stumped

Re: Replace front springs on 1961 T-BIRD

I am trying to eliminate the rock and roll ride on my 61 convertible. The car has radial tires and the suspension has been gone thru. I was told that I need to replace the front springs. A while back I read an article about using MOOG springs out of a Ford Windstar. I have tried to track down this ...

Re: Cooling

Regarding placement of temperature switches for cooling fans, I have come up with 2 solutions for my 61. (1) Use a radiator probe type switch. Lots of people seem to do this with no mention of harm to the radiator. (2) Use an Auto Meter 2281 Heater Hose Adapter drilled and tapped for a threaded fan...

Re: Fan clutch bolts on a 62?

I had a '61 so I feel your pain. I had the same issues. IIRC, the way I got them to work was to get them to thread with my fingers as far as I could. Once they got too tight to be able to turn with just my fingers I could get an open end on it but it is tedious and frustrating. BTW I have an extra f...

Re: 1961 Top Wont Go Up

Maybe it's just me but most people I know that own convertible 'Birds seem to have issues. I mentioned this before and I have heard other owners say their tops have been trouble free but for some reason the ones I know haven't had that experience.

It's not that hard. Just takes time. It's all R & R stuff.

Anything more than Dot 3 would be a waste unless you're worried about boiling your brake fluid.

If it only happens in reverse I'm going to guess it's the auto adjust.....

Stock Steelies won't clear the calipers unless you are running '65 - '67 DB steelies.

Re: New Member near Seattle

Beautiful car Ledhed! You got the best year out of all the 'Birds although I'm a bit biased!

Sounds like you got a few projects ahead of you but sounds like you've got enough experience turning wrenches to iron them all out.

Keep us posted on your progress!!!

Re: Front spindle snapped

Hi Karl Thanks for the offer, but I agree the shipping will be rediculous. There is someone I know who might have a spare about 100 miles from me. Alternatively I do have '66 front hubs with rotors and lower arms. Just need to get calipers and maybe the later master cylinder. Regards If you have th...

Re: Ride Height.

Also keep in mind the new springs will need some time to settle to their final height after installation. Yes. Depending on how you drive her it should take around 500 - 1000 miles for the new springs to settle into their final ride height. If you turn her hard into a lot of corners the springs wil...
