Impressive. Should be quite a step up in both power and handling.

Re: Cooling
I always understood the fan clutch to work differently. I have always thought that the fan would work as normal until the vehicle reached a certain speed and enough air was flowing into the engine and that air force would actually cause the clutch to stop the fan from spinning and increase fuel eco...

Re: Benidx Starter Drive Question
My starter never froze on the flywheel but when it died I had the original that came with the car rewound at a shop. Came it better than the one that came with the car. Originally, while it would start, it was a bit sluggish and underpowered but after I had it rebuilt it would start right up. One th...

Re: Cooling
Hi, John. This rebuilder specializes in classic car engine work. It was timed with a light (I actually have one, too!), has electronic ignition. I have seen it both ways about radiator construction and material. In reality, a standard copper 3-row like the one I have should be sufficient. Something...

Re: Re:More Cooling
Absolutely fascinating discussion, this. I have two '62's, one an original-engined coupe with 113,000. Temp needle barely gets off C no matter what's going on. Technician "shot" it at idle`with an IR temp sensor. Nothing over 210 anywhere following a freeway drive of 10 miles in moderate ...

Re: Fresh Air Vent Boot Replacement
As ingenious as Ford engineers were then and now I wish they would have made access panels so that we could get to these areas more easily. The front cowl and the rear cowl panel underneath the rear glass is what I'm talking about. Those always seem to be the areas where rust gets a foothold. :redho...

Re: Fresh Air Vent Boot Replacement
Can you use some metal panel glue rather than screwing in the piece? http://3mcollision.com/3m-panel-bonding-adhesive-08116.html Since it's so hard to get at this may be an alternative that can help to seal the collar rather than only screwing in 2 of the 3 screws because of accessibility issues. Re: Replacement Radio
Hi Tom: I did a bench test, and lo-and-behold, it worked just fine. So here's what I ended up doing. :grab: I soldered a 16 gauge wire to the hot-yellow terminal of the map light. I attached an in-line MINI Blade Fuse with a 5A fuse and I am using that as my constant voltage. I am using the OEM bla...

Re: painting my 63...
ATTN ALL: I am in process of redoing my convert. I am breaking car down to basic body. Motor out, interior out, trunk emptied, soft top removed, all trim removed. Have done some shopping around, and all who I have talked to, will not quote until seeing car. This means moving a rolling bare body to ...

Re: painting my 63...
No, I didn't media blast it. The car was rust free so no need to take it down to the metal. I had it skim coated and then blocked straight. The paint was a single stage system which may also be why it was as inexpensive as it was.

Re: painting my 63...
I have to agree. A proper media blast and repaint, even without any major redos of the engine compartment or door jambs will still cost between 4-6 grand if you do it right. I paid seven a few years ago and that was with me taking off all of the trim, bumpers and doing a lot of the masking. Granted...

Re: Jumpy steering
John my car does not have to be hitting a bump to cause the problem. I can be driving at highway speed and the steering is normal & straight. But when I turn the steering wheel the car over steers in that direction. The sway bar is stock with new bushings and links, would a larger sway bar be a...
