Re: an interesting window modification from Craigslist

This window design is why they build the cars in clay, for revision, with the right frame along with a hinge to open the window, it could be more acceptable, then if not satisfied one could retrofit with a functioning porthole like some early Birds had, thought those portholes did not open, I believe.

Re: Ballast resistor

A fiend seems to think the pink wire or the wire that heats up to keep the points from pitting is disconnected somewhere, what lead him to that thought, I do not know, except a external ballast resistor he thinks would be a good idea.

Ballast resistor

Did the 64-66 Bird's come with, more so, the 66 come with a ballast resistor, I guess between the coil and distributor to help keep the points from burning out?

Re: Windshield weatherstrip

Thanks, have you ever used their products? Their windshield weatherstrip particularly? I have used their products for my roof side rails, doors, vent windows (which are a lot of fun, requiring the window to be removed from the door and the re- installation which can be even more fun) and trunk gask...

Re: insulation in behind front fender splash guards

These cars were built to be quiet, dual resonators and mufflers, helped. And fiberglass insulation added to the quiet ride, in the trunk on the side up and inside where the hinges are on top of the wheel wells, there is more insulation like large loafs of bread inside the space, even more so the &qu...

Re: 1964 Thunderbird - New to me, First T-Bird

58-60 year old cars, can be very problematic every where if not maintained through out their life, one problem I experienced was the differential, needing new gears one of the main reasons is the rear differential gear oil, if never change and flushed turns into a tar like substance, so a differenti...

Re: Gas pedal to carb linkage

There are varying opinions on how to hook up the gas pedal linkage almost as many as what Break in Oil to use! I found this link and video that I used to hook up mine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJqiXDJ ... birdRepair

Re: Rear subframe rail rust, mouse nests

You are doing some difficult work, which luckily for my car I did not have to do,welding and fabricating are not a high point for me. I know you will want to keep your trunk as water tight as possible, so I will bring up where the studs for the rear grill go behind the rear window, those studs go th...

Re: Rocker Shafts holes/grooves

Dunk67 I was being somewhat satirical about the rocker shaft importance, they are important in getting oil to the valve train, I had the original shafts with the grooves, thought they had worn out, the grooves were OK it was the outer part of the shaft where the rocker sit that were worn, they were ...
