Re: Odds & Ends
2. The light in the ash tray-- I mentioned a 'small hole' in the front edge of the glove compartment tray; that 'small hole' is actually an elongated slot and the clip on the light will snap into that slot. See photos--- DSC_1500 (1024x683).jpg DSC_1499 (1024x683).jpg In the first photo, you can see...

Re: Odds & Ends
1. The "mystery hole" to the left of the ignition switch is a red warning light telling you the emergency brake is on. The light will flash when the ignition switch is in the on/run position and the e-brake is set. 2. Light in the ashtray opening. Look in the "glove compartment" ...

Re: window washer pump and bag
As requested, photos of washer bag and pump placement as in my 62 Bird. I believe the locations to be correct. The first photo shows the pump mounted forward of the battery. The second two photos show the bag location. Hope this helps. DSC_1438 - Copy (1024x683).jpg DSC_1436 - Copy (1024x683).jpg DS...

Re: Cruise O'Matic Problems
For my 62 with COM, the Green Dot puts the transmission through all three gears---normal driving, and white dot eliminates first gear which is good for starting out in snow or sand. In fact the owner's manual will tell you what I just did.

Re: Lights indicators on the Fuel Gauge.
The light on the right is, in fact, a generator charge indicator light. This light flashes on if the battery is discharging and the generator is not supplying current. Similarly the oil pressure light, on the left, flashes on when the oil pressure is below a safe value. Both lights can be tested by ...

Re: How Does She Look?
These newest photos are much better than the first ones. The paint looks like it has tremendous glossiness as evidenced by the reflections. A little detailing at overspray areas and you are good to go. That's going to be a great ride this summer. Nice job!!!

Re: Swing away column problems
Sounds like you need to replace the Shift Lever and the Shift Detent Plate. What you describe is a common and dangerous condition in these old birds. Most all of the T Bird vendors have the parts you will need for about $100 or so. Take a look at this: http://www.southsandia.com/website/shiftdetent....

Re: Air duct and heater control unit.
Glad I could help with the color. I've not even had the control panel out of the console let alone apart, so I can't be of any help there. Hopefully someone else will jump in for that part of it.
Good Luck....

Re: Air duct and heater control unit.
So maybe they were originally reddish brown? Remember, that mine is a 62. I am quite sure the color is correct. I did a google search for "1963 thunderbird console/dashboard" and quickly scrolled through the images and found several that showed the heater control unit and the lettering in...

Re: Air duct and heater control unit.
Here's a better picture of my 62 control unit. The color is actually a reddish brown. This photo shows it pretty well.

In my '62, those letters/numbers are RED.
