Re: power decklid for 59?

Shout out to John Draxler at Thunderbird Ranch, http://tbirdranch.com/ John had what I needed to rebuild the pump for my convertible top  When the time comes I hope to pick John's brain on the rebuilding of the squarebird rockers, the 58 parts car may come back to life after all

Re: power decklid for 59?

Thanks Alan, don't spend a lot of time on this, unless you really want to  I found it odd it was included in the Osborne book, but we know things are printed and never really come to be (ie seat belt buckle holders for 1965 cars.

you can't save them all

I was updating the info on my 65 in John Rotella's registry, and then I updated the two squarebirds I just bought. Then I remembered a local junk yard had advertised a 65 convertible on Facebook so I made the trip over there. This bird will never fly again I'm afraid, the frame is just about gone in...

power decklid for 59?

I'm still in the learning phase on squarebirds, I bet someone here knows the answer to this question. Did the fully automatic top/decklids like in the 60 thru 66 models show up on the late production 59's? I ask because the electric assy manual has a whole section on them, along with the manual deck...

My next project

IMG_1053.JPG Didn't take long to find what I was looking for, actually found something even better. Ran across an ad on marketplace, seller said he had lots of kooks, but nobody really serious. He had a real solid 59 convertible for sale, and a rough looking 58 convertible parts car. I tried to not...

Re: 1963 turn signal flasher location

I would suspect other issues besides the flasher. You really Need the shop book and look at chapter 10. Check your fuses with a test light at the clips that hold the fuse. Old fuses can have bad connections. I would check power at the brake light switch at the master cylinder and pull a tail light ...

Re: The light that keeps on lighting

The light is powered by the ignition switch, and is seeking a ground through the voltage regulator. When the car is charging, the 'I' terminal will become powered, and there won't be a ground for the light so it goes out. I've seen bad grounds on regulators have these symptoms, and of course a pinch...

Re: 1964 disk brake conversion

Why is this question repeated 3 times? (Mr. Moderator, can you clean this up?) Sorry, it was nice today so I got in a round of golf. As well as move to the correct forum? since this stuff comes up so often, I haven't been moving it down to modified. If the group wants it pure, I can accommodate. Bob

Re: My Tbird is going to Long Island

So I'm going to do a follow-up, my car never went to New York. The buyer developed "issues" at home, and wouldn't follow through with the purchase. The car was re-listed, and sold for a couple of bucks more this time. The buyer was a super nice "car guy" from Maine, and the money...

Re: 63 front spring removal w/o special tool

they'll probably take a torch to it and cut the springs, anyway
That's what I did, they were junk anyway. A torch is safer then a cut-off wheel, if you have to take the car out for blasting, drop by a place that can burn them off, it takes 5 minutes. JMO Bob C.

Re: My Tbird is going to Long Island

I went with Bring-a-trailer.com Their system seems to weed out the tire-kickers, if you want to bid they put 5% on your credit card, and you can't snipe at the end. I think I did ok.

Paint code 'R' called Dark Ivy Green for tbird and Spanish Moss for Lincoln. It's not quite as grey as the bullit Mustang. I'll give the new owner the info on your club

Re: Replacing A/C hoses

I don't know how much these will help the liquid line (sight glass) goes to the expansion valve IMG_0430.JPG this picture might give some reference, notice the two terminal switch near the bottom of this picture. You should be able to see it above the gas pedal. IMG_0421.JPG This job is no fun but c...
