Re: 12 Volt Battery in a 6 Volt Car
I disconnected the clock so it won't get damaged when I reverse the polarity. I don't care about the stock radio. When I pulled the radio I found it was an original 55 radio converted by William Abate to 12 volt positive ground. That explains the 12 volt battery. I'm now wondering if the generator a...

12 Volt Battery in a 6 Volt Car
I posted this on the Y Block forum and no one had an answer. My 1955 Thunderbird has a 12 volt battery with all the six volt hardware, coil and wiring left intact. The starter solenoid is the 6 volt style along with the coil. The battery has a positive ground. The car runs and drives fine. The radio...

Leg Room and Clutch Pedal Height?
I'm 5' 11" tall and somewhat thick around the middle. The driver side leg room in my 1955 Thunderbird is tolerable, but the clutch pedal is so high it's hard to get on top of it. Is there any way to lower the pedal with removing the clutch pedal return spring? I have read that it's possible to ...

6 Volt to 12 Volt Conversion Questions
I am about to convert my 1955 TBird from 6 Volts to 12. I have read all the information I can find about this swap and it seems pretty straight forward. I want to keep the car as period correct as possible, so I'm buying a rebuilt 1956 Thunderbird Generator. I'll swap the usual parts like the starte...
