Re: Is this exhaust correct for 1964?
Jim, I was interested to hear that you and Mr. Wulf were working with Waldron's to improve their T-Bird exhaust systems. It's a good thing (and all too rare) when vendors are willing to listen to input from knowledgeable end users. Six years ago I had a Waldron's system installed on my '64. The dime...

Re: Exhaust manifold gaskets
When I replaced exhaust gaskets on my '64 (which uses the same manifolds as your '63) I used the "no-blow" gaskets from Wilson's. https://www.wilsontbird.com/parts/1958-1966-heavy-duty-no-blow-exhaust-manifold-gasket By the way, here's one thread I found (using the search function, I wasn'...

Re: Won't start, carburetor?
Blab, I see you're located in Germany. Does the fuel there contain ethanol? Ethanol blended fuels are subject to something called phase separation, which as mentioned causes all sorts of nasty side effects. Here's an article on phase separation: http://www.franklinfueling.com/media/397357/ffs-0238-p...

Re: Craigslist 63 convertible: Thoughts
By "roadster clone" I assume the seller means it's a convertible with a tonneau cover. At the price it would be a decent deal assuming the body is solid. It is an A/C car but the underhood components are missing, and the power steering fluid reservoir is in an odd position. Cars with A/C h...

No rear seat belts (at least from the factory) until '66.

My understanding is there's a complete revision of the 61-63 OFS in the works so I'm pretty sure you hold the most up-to-date version currently available.

Re: 1962 landau sale
You continue to ignore the good advice to get some pictures up, so my sense is you'll be sitting on that car a while longer.
For somebody who has the amount of experience you claim to have in the collector car hobby I'm shocked you don't know more about selling a car....

Re: Is the vinyl top padded on 66?
After some further investigation, I found a post from Alan Tast stating that the top padding deletion was a running change during the '65 model year, not '64 as I previously stated. But the answer for the OP remains the same ie. no top padding on '66 models. http://www.vintagethunderbirdclub.net/php...

Re: Is the vinyl top padded on 66?
I believe the padding was discontinued either part way through model year '64 production, or after. So your '66 would not have had any padding under the top.

Re: 31 August build, Sept engine build date??
T-Bird owners have even found ROT (build) sheets from Lincolns (which were built on an adjacent production line) in their cars so it's very possible a sheet from another T-Bird would wind up in your car.

Re: Friends driving your car.
I have never had a friend ask to drive one of my T-Birds. Maybe that's because they are also past or present owners of collector cars themselves and adhere to the old rule that asking to drive someone's pride and joy is akin to asking to sleep with his wife LOL!

Re: Those pesky turn signals
Hopefully the new owner will be savvy enough to realize that a 50-year old car will require more frequent repairs and maintenance than a modern car.
