1961 Rear Leaf Spring Installation
I am working on installing new rear suspension on the '61 hard top. You can see on the old spring it appears to be 6 leaf with no bottom pad. My new ones are 4 leaf since that seems to be the most consistent that I found for the '61 HT. I am using 2 insulator pads on the new springs but the pad reta...

Rear Leaf Spring Eyelet Size
So I ordered some new rear leaf springs from General Spring out of Kansas for my '61 Hardtop. I didn't realize when I ordered it that the front and rear eyes were the same even though the website says they are but I also wasn't aware that they were different sizes from the factory. These new springs...

Lower Control Arm Bushing Bolt
I’m sure I missed this somewhere, but the bolt that goes through the lower control arm bushing is stuck on both sides of the car. Does that bolt need to be pressed in and out like the bushing or do I just need a bigger hammer?

Re: Front Coil Spring Removal
Thanks for the info. I broke 4 of the 8 bolts on the bump stops. Any idea what size and length those are?

Front Coil Spring Removal
I am getting ready to remove the front coils on my 61 for the full front end rebuild. Before I attempt to remove the spring, do I need to remove that cover/metal piece off of the spring first? Its at the top of the spring. I am also wondering what those 2 spacers (?) that are in the middle section o...

Was the OTC tool breaking a one off type of thing?

Front Coil Spring Removal Tool
I was hoping someone might be able to help me source the Moog coil spring removal tool or one like it? I'd prefer to rent or borrow but if I have to buy it I will. I really don't want to pay an excessive amount to have a shop do the front end rebuild.

1961 Window Motor
Does anyone know of a place to send a window motor to be rebuilt? I have had it at a local auto electric place for two months but he can not get the motor apart to rebuild. I would buy a new one at this point but from what I have found no one has any in stock. I will also take a rebuilt one if I cou...

1961 Exhaust Manifolds and Gaskets
I need to replace the exhaust manifolds and entire exhaust piping. Can anyone direct me to a more reasonably priced manifold than the$300ish ones I keep finding? Trying to do this all with a budget mindset since I'm just trying to get it running well for my Grandpa. I also am looking for a place to ...

Re: 1961 3 of the 4 Power Windows Not working
So I removed the passenger window motor and can’t get it to work. Does anyone know where I can get a reasonable priced replacement? These seem to be pretty pricey.

Re: '61 PerTronix Ignition and Coil Upgrade
That’s my confusion. The resistor wire should drop the voltage after it warms up so did you change any wiring? I do not want to prematurely wear out anything.

'61 PerTronix Ignition and Coil Upgrade
I have found conflicting info on this and am hoping someone has done this already that can help provide some assistance. I am specifically installing the 1281 ignitor and 40011 Flame Thrower coil. My confusion is with the resistance wire. I found a wiring diagram that shows a wire from the ignition ...

Re: 1961 3 of the 4 Power Windows Not working
Thank you for your help so far. I’m going to guess it’s just seized since they worked the last time it ran. First time getting it going in 15 years. This is my grandpas old car and I’ve been working to get it driving so he can go for a couple more rides in it. Drives and stops but there’s something ...

Re: 1961 3 of the 4 Power Windows Not working
Thanks for the suggestion. I did get one of the rear windows working with that before taking off the panel. I did notice on the passenger door I can hear the switch clicking on the door but the window does not operate. Hopefully I can remove the panel today, but does that change yours thoughts on it...

1961 3 of the 4 Power Windows Not working
So I'll start with I am very inexperienced with diagnosing electrical and I have the electrical manuals coming to me. The drivers front window goes up and down, but the other 3 do not move at all. The switches on the drivers panel and each individual one do not work. Can anyone give me some pointers...
