Re: 1966 Thunderbird for sale

Just reduced price to 24k OBO. It seems the original owner bought it in Nebraska then cruised to Southern California. Cruise, AC and 8 track stereo are perfect options for cruising America's highways. No real need to open the windows much. That being said, the windows open and close easily.

Re: Highway Pilot System

Now that I got the cruise working I want to adjust the accelerator linkage per manual spec. On page 16-37 of the 66 manual it shows adjusting nuts. These hold the bellows bracket round holes into threaded manifold holes. Not elongated. Not adjustable. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

Re: Highway Pilot System

Happy to say, after following the electrical troubleshooting instructions in the shop manual, the cruise system is now working! Turned out to be a bad plug connection at the brake retard vacuum valve. I cleaned it up and bingo...the cruise works! Now everything in this baby works but my wife is stil...

Re: Highway Pilot System

Thanks DakotaLee! That makes sense but I wonder what that option would be. The plug comes right out of the cruise control harness on the driver's side inner fender.

Highway Pilot System

In the process of troubleshooting so it will work. All components are there. I need a new or used sensor pump as mine leaks fluid. Does anybody have one available? Manual is very detailed and helpful. There is a mystery connector that has nothing to hook up to. When I found it, it was all taped up w...

Re: HORN

It was a wire that popped out of the connector coming out of the steering column. I pushed it back in with needle nose pliers. All good.

Don't see your pic but I don't need to. From your description an engine removal and rebuild or replacement is in order.

Re: HORN

Hi Raven, Yes, It's interesting the things we learn when troubleshooting. I found a NOS relay today. It's in transit to me. Wonder if the relay has anything to do with the cruise operation. My cruise system is complete but does not operate. Never pulled the unique cruise steering wheel. I assume I n...

Re: HORN

Upon further review, page 47 in the 66 electrical manual shows a horn relay for cruise cars located under dash by the steering column. That might be the problem. I will be checking that when I can. Busy summer!
