Re: FOM trans rough Park/N to Drive/Rev
Using other than Type F should provide a smoother shifting transmission, but I rather doubt that it will help much, if at all, in your case when manually shifting in & out of gear. Ford stopped using Type F because of complaints of harsh shifting. Type F also requires more frequent fluid changes...

Re: FOM trans rough Park/N to Drive/Rev
My 55 air-cooled Fordomatic did the same thing, but it otherwise shifted fine/w no slipping. It also leaked (no surprise there). We are talking about 67-69-year-old transmissions (automatic transmissions have come a long way since). You should come to an absolute complete stop when shifting between ...

Re: Oem Wheels
I just took a closer look at my wheels; there's no extra hole on any of them. As I already said, there's no KH, but all four have Fomoco script inside the oval. My car came off the assembly line on January 20, 1955. As I already stated, the 55/56 OEM wheels are 15 x 5. Wagons, I believe, had 15 x 5....

Re: 55 Restoration Project
Being that the red one is closer to the camera, combined with the angle, maybe the height difference is exaggerated in the photo. Were measurements taken and compared to the other cars in the photo? What's the height difference in inches? Were the control arms torqued to specs with all four wheels o...

Biden wasn't President when I made the trip to Bridgeport. Let's leave politics out of it, please.

Re: 55 Restoration Project
Just looking at the photos, it appears that there are very few areas that don't need work; mine looked much, much better when I inherited it, and it could be driven. Nevertheless, much work had to be done, and still needs to be done. I strongly suggest that anyone who is considering such a project t...

Re: Oem Wheels
I don't see any difference, other than color. My 55 wheels are the same; however, the CTCI Manual says that they should have "KH" (Kelsey Hayes) stamped into them, but mine don't, and I don't see it on either of the wheels shown. The wheels are 15 x 5, but I'm not sure about the backspacin...

Re: Gas mileage ?
I bet that's the only gas station in town, and there isn't another nearby; such was the case when my brother and I rode our motorcycles to Bridgeport, CA 5-10 years ago. The nearest chain grocery store was 1 1/2 hours away. Hospital? You better be healthy.

Unless you have aftermarket rocker arms, the threads are the same. Only the adjuster threads are different. Make sure that the diameter of the ball on the replacement adjusters is correct.

Tonight's Jeopardy Episode
The contestants were asked to identify a photo of a new Ford model that was introduced in 1954. One contestant said it was a Bronco. Another contestant said it was a Corvette. The third contestant didn't even guess. What was it?

Re: What kind of valve adjusters are these? 2 different types on same engine.
John sells new rocker assemblies as well. You could also contact Rocker Arms Unlimited (rocker arms.com) in Redding, CA. Tim McMaster (yblockguy.com) in Hanford, CA also reconditions rocker assemblies and pressurizes them (watch his video). He's another guy that you'll want to contact by phone. Go t...

Try John Mummert (ford-y-block.com). You'll have better luck contacting him by calling.

Machinehand is correct. Although the early type requires a bit more effort and dexterity, they are preferable.

Re: 55 Restoration Project
Clear coat or cast iron paint would look more original, if that's what you're after.
