Re: Air vent scoops/deflectors on a '57
You can get more information on the fuse box at Gil’s Garage at CTCI. It’s a great idea to take added loads off the ignition switch.

Re: What kind of valve adjusters are these? 2 different types on same engine.
I can’t find the part number or anywhere that sells the jam nut style. Does any know know where I can get a set of the jam nut valve adjusters for the passenger side to replace the one piece? [/qu If your rockers do match, I wouldn’t worry about the jamb nuts. Leave well enough alone. The “friction...

There’s appears to be more than enough threads open on the late friction style to add a thin profile back up jamb nuts. My 55 has had friction style since 2004 with no problems. (No jamb nuts)

Re: 56 Speedometer lubrication
The oil port exists on my 56. Here's how I do it. I remove the clock and use the hole to access the speedo port. I have a long plastic pipet with a squeeze bulb that I put a little oil in. Then I fish that to the port and squeeze. I leave my clock in place without the nuts and washers so that I can...

Re: 55 Restoration Project
You asked about information on the frame. If you mean serial numbers to match the firewall data plate here are the locations. The right front under the heater box is the best to view. Transmission colors are all natural. As far as things to watch out for, I know of two cases where the build sheets w...

Re: 55 Steering wheel restoration
Since you are going to pull the wheel, take it with you to the paint supplier and see what they suggest for materials.
To be correct the wheel should be the interior turquoise. A rear quarter panel windlace is easy to remove for a color match.

Re: Broken tach needle
I just got a 57. The tach needle is broken but I can't find a replacement. Is this something that can be done? Do you know how it was broken? Yes they are fragile but not so that they come apart under their own weight. I’m thinking it may have been cracked on installation but stayed together for aw...

Re: 55 Steering wheel restoration
Don't forget that big parts that determine success or failure of DIY steering wheel restoration are filing V-grooves in all of the cracks and filling them with a material that has similar expansion/contraction properties to the Tenite or similar plastics used from the mid-'50s-on. Not only that, th...

Re: 55 Steering wheel restoration
If you want to do it yourself, 20 years ago I used the Steering Wheel repair kit from POR 15. Worked well. I’m not seeing it being offered today but their Steering Wheel epoxy is still available. I do see Eastwood has what looks like a comprehensive repair kit that’s very similar. As for a color mat...

Re: radiator recommendation
I was able to have the 55 radiator tanked and two pinholes repaired and used it from 2005-2017. It still had some issues but was ok. I finally tired of it and bought the one mentioned above. It runs about 8 degrees cooler and no worries. So far. The 57 original radiator in 2007 was useless. Had to g...

Re: Need a lift in my garage
I’ve looked at lifts on and off for years. There are tons of choices. Familiarize yourself with the Automotive Lift Institute (ALI) safety ratings. Very important for your lift to have their rating. I lost my high ceilings in my shop when I retired and moved and now have 10ft. Can’t make a decision ...

Re: radiator recommendation
I bought this one from autocity1958 on eBay about 6 years ago. Looks original. Direct bolt in. It was highly recommended and has performed well here in Vegas. Aluminum, two row 1” tubes. Read their description for cooling comparisons. You’ll need to paint it black and I added the rubber overflow tub...
