Re: Another Fuel Pump Question
A little more info, when I brought my car back to life after its 45 year slumber, I bought a replacement fuel pump just when we were all discovering the China pump problem. I then installed an electrical pump from one of the tbird vendors that started leaking after ~ 1 year. I have replaced that pu...

Re: '56 TB Heater Fan Install
You need the clip on the heat shield that secures the wires. The heat shield is not quite correct. There should be a 45° break on the exhaust edge.

Re: Rear differential oil
Unless it’s been abused or allowed to run dry the rear end is pretty rugged. Back in 1999 while restoring the 55, my first Tbird, the rear axle assembly showed no sign of any leaks and having driven the car for one year before starting the resto it performed as it should. Gil’s advice at that time w...

Re: Rear differential oil
I have about 135K on my car and the differential has never been touched. No leaks no noise and minimal play as far as I know but will check any play this spring. Anything else I should know or do? Don’t forget to check the inside surface of the rear rims for oil indicating leaking rear axle seals. ...

Re: Fuel Pump rebuild
Definitely the left one. Here’s a photo of a known good Tbird pump I have. Note the hex screws like yours. This one is made in Canada. Pumps with Phillips screws are to be avoided generally. Slot heads are also ok. 17E0CB49-2A2E-4267-A383-71BB7AE69E72.jpeg 996F97FA-0C0A-4E53-ABE8-96FA9AA96335.jpeg

Re: Hole in Firewall on my '57
The random online photo you chose is definitely a 57. The noise compensation feature performance on radios was nominal at best. Same with the Town and Country feature. The motor that actuated the signal seeking device was too fast so mostly passed up stations. Especially those with weak signals. Far...

Re: FOM trans rough Park/N to Drive/Rev
It’s always been my understanding type F will work fine but Dexron 3 will provide a smoother shift. I used Dexron 3 in our 57 but only put about 250 miles on it in 4 years so no real experience with the fluids. No problems but the transmission was fully rebuilt.

Re: Troubleshooting a disconnected E-Brake cable
Samson, Your assumption is correct. On a properly adjusted/operating 55-57 bird park brake system the cable would have too much tension on the pulley to be accidentally dislocated by incidental contact while working in the area. This is true for either full on or full release position. Check the cle...

Re: 56 Speedometer lubrication
Easiest way to check is with a phone GPS app. Then you will know. True. I recently bought a gps speedometer off Amazon. When I want to use it I attach it to a small piece of Velcro hidden under the dash edge and it plugs into my phone charger also under the dash. I also have the gps app on my phone...

Beautiful restoration. However If you used standard suspension components the car is sitting very high for a newly restored bird. I’d be surprised if the level would wear down to being correct.

Also from Gils garage, the hot side of the starter relay 10ga wire. Making it a direct connection to the positive battery post.
I wired my emergency flashers from there so they are always hot. Any connection from here should be fused. The article and photos are at Gil’s Garage.

You can get more information on the fuse box at Gil’s Garage at CTCI. It’s a great idea to take added loads off the ignition switch.
