Re: 62 thunderbird build sheet(s)?
My SR was vin 108312 so very close to mine. Its probably a SR. LOTS of work to do however. The build sheet and the gate release are two different documents. The build sheet is often found under the lower back seat cushion. The gate release is the ones that Marti's have. They are more like the dealer...

That 9/25 built car should have cornering weights in the trunk and behind the front bumper as well.

Re: Heater control valve operation
There is a bunch of vacuum lines and vacuum motors that control the flow of air to the cabin. If operational the heater control valve will shut off the flow of coolant to the heater core. If the lines and motors are not functioning you could still blow air through the heater core into the cabin.

Re: 63 Instrument Cluster Rechrome
You might want to pay top dollar for a great original and skip the re-plating. That's what I did. Just too much going on there.

I used closed cell 1/8". They had 1/4" but the shop said don't use it. They were right the 1/8" was exactly like my original car.

Re: White landau top vinyl
I owned a 62 T-bird with a white landau top in the late 60's. Then I restored a 62 Landau about 6 years ago. Then I was able to find a NOS white landau top. Cost $1000. I had it installed with a 1/8" pad. It turned out perfect. Just like my original car. The sample picture you supplied of the m...

Re: Tuning a 390 Engine with an Autolite 4100 carb
One thing you should do is a search on this forum for timing the car by ear! When Pony carb was in business they said never to time off the timing marks because over the years the rubber inside the damper ages and moves. You think you have timed the car right but its not true. I always used their me...

Re: Seat Covers
I got several t-bird interiors from Original Auto interiors. I had them professionally installed. The installer said they fit the best of any interior packages he ever installed.

Re: 63 roadster
If you had to unbolt the deck lid screws from under the rear fender your problem is probably not the hydraulic pump. The deck lid screws turn by a motor mounted on the rear deck lid. You probably have a relay or switch problem. You can determine which it is by overriding the relay to see if by doing...

Re: Sport Roadster Society and Fake Roadsters
My last contact number for Ron Bates was 360-813-2291. I seem to recall about 200 certified roadsters. When I became a member he gave copies of all their gate releases to me. I assume all members get them. I did not pay $1000 to register. I remember more like $100 or $150.

Re: 63 roadster
I prefer to open the deck lid rather than remove the toneau cover and go through the back seat. To open the deck lid with no power remove the screws detailed above. Then there are four bolts (two on each side) accessable from under the car near the rear bumper that frees the deck lid hydraulic cylin...
