Re: How do I take this off

You've probably seen this tool which is generic and you can get it anywhere, O'Reilly's, Autozone, Tbird vendors, etc. I find it really clutzy to use. If your crank is very tight against the vinyl as is the case with mine, the metal tool can mark or worse, tear the vinyl. Screenshot 2019-05-25 12.4...

Just letting everyone know I replaced the float, and the carb is working great! On to the next project. Thanks everyone. Your advice has been really appreciated.

Re: 64 carb issue

Looking at your pic's your carb looks amazingly clean. Should be a cheap repair. These Autolite 4100's work well when clean and properly set up. There is a good utube vid on how to teardown, clean and rebuild and adjust these which I used to do mine. Was it working ok before the float issue? It was...

I do want to keep a lot of the original, but am not against upgrading the carburetor. I’ll have to do some research. Any suggestions or things to look for?

Re: 64 carb issue

Got the rear float ordered. Thanks for the help!

Scott, that's a funny story. I'm glad you're able to share that experience, and we can figure this out. It's nice outside, and am ready to drive this around.

Re: 64 carb issue

Alright, I took the top off, and here is what I found: The back float was under a large pool of fuel. I took off the float and pin. I think the needle needs to be replaced. Anyone know how to get this out? I’ll look it up, just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Also I posted additional pics a...

Re: 64 carb issue

How do I approach this? With my very basic mechanic skills is this something I should attempt? Do I need to remove the carburetor? Is there a video from start to finish that anyone would recommend? Thank you

64 carb issue

Okay, on to the next thing. The engine cuts off continually. I thought maybe fuel wasn’t getting through to the engine. Complete opposite is happening I took off the air filter, the carb is shooting fuel out. I took some screenshots of the video I took. So I suppose the engine is being flooded and i...

Re: Origin of the Flair Bird design?

Ford's 1962 concept car, the ITE XXI, was showcased at the 1963 Worlds Fair. The designer, Alexander Sarantos Tremulis, was given the task of designing the car that "he believed we would be driving in the year 2000". Concept car 2.jpg Concept car 1.jpg Seeing this concept car, I think we ...

Re: 64 fuel issue

That second layer is a stone shield and very few cars still have that. I've only seen one of them and it wasn't on a car when I saw it. Apparently sometimes stones would get between the stone shield and the tank and then vibration would cause the stone to grind a hole into the tank defeating the pu...

Re: 64 fuel issue

I must have missed the thread that outlined the underlying issue, so I don't know if it's fuel leak or no fuel supply. Can you clarify? Photos are a little blurry, but it looks to me like the clamp in the photo is tight, but oversized for the hose--could be looking at the excess "tail." D...
