Re: Pink-Resistance Wire
Thank you for all the input on this question. I discussed this issue with a mechanic that has a great deal of experience with Fords. Evidently the resistor wire was used to lower the voltage to the points so that they would last longer. Some car companies built the resistance into the coil, reason t...

Pink-Resistance Wire
While working on the convertible top I left the ignition on and went to lunch. Half an hour later the garage smelled of burning wire. Disconnected the battery and traced the smell to the pink resistance wire. The insulation was burned from the ignition switch to the the plug on the firewall. Luckily...

Re: Unknown Parts
hello Jim
My book indicates that the package tray is covered in section 4800. I've looked in the 4800-4841 pages and can't see them. I'll get a magnify glass and go through them again.
Thanks again for your time.

Re: Unknown Parts
Jim Thank you very much for the information. I have the Jim Osborn Body, Trim & Sealant and the Electric wiring manuals but not the Body and Interior manual. I will try to find a copy. It is the small parts that are taking research time. I'm trying to get this restoration as close to original as...

The original switch was manufactured by Ranco, and is a type 10A. other numbers are : C25A-19618-A. It i...

It appears that the RANCO Temperature control switch is defective. I have searched my catalogs and the internet and am unable to find a replacement. Looking through the older posts I found discussion on the control switches but unfortunately no source info. I would appreciate a source for these swit...

1963 convertible top shops
Hello I'm in the final stages of restoring a 1963 model which came in the form of multiple boxes. I have been able to put it all together with the exception of the electrical and hydraulics of the convertible top. Does anyone know of a convertible top shop in South Georgia or North Florida capable o...
